A well looked after B&B - beautiful rooms with comfortable beds & well decorated. Lovely touches in the room! On a personal note although the owners were helpful I personally found them a little intrusive especially at breakfast. I like to be left to my own devices when away for a weekend. The owner kept joining in our conversations at breakfast which I found intrusive and annoying Having said that the accommodation itself was lovely.

“First Class! Wonderful B & B, Wonderful Hosts”

Applewood House

I have just returned from a stay at Applewood House with my two daughters and daughter-in-law. Barry and Lesley Knight, the hosts, are fantastic. Lesley even took us down into the town by car to show us how to get there and back on foot if we wanted to. Our rooms were as good, if not better than a 5 star hotel, beautifully decorated and appointed and complete with fresh milk for the tea and coffee. The breakfasts were super, we were going to have lunch at Betty's but could only manage cream teas we were so full. Highly recommended!!

“Fantastic”

I totally agree with everything said in the couple of reviews before this one.

Applewood House is a gem of a B&B, in fact, it is difficult to call it that as the standard is that of a 4/5 star hotel!

The rooms are lovely, decorated to a very high standard, and all those little touches that Niki151 mentioned in her review make it extra special. It was such a treat to have fresh milk in the room, I wish more places would think of it.

Barry and Lesley are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble and their knowledge of the local restaurants is very handy!

On one hand it is a place I want to tell everyone about, but on the other I'd like to keep quiet so that I know next time I want to stay there a room will be available!

With only a 20 minute walk into town, and the street it is situated on being quiet with ample parking this B&B is in a ideal location for any kind of trip to Harrogate.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful guest house. Barry & Lesley are the perfect hosts who are willing to help you enjoy your stay to it's fullest by suggesting nice drives across the Dales and restaurants to eat at.
The rooms are spacious, comfy, clean and with all the little touches you would not expect from a guest house. There are bathrobes, toiletries, hairdryer, mineral water, humbugs, wine glasses, corkscrew, cd player, I think I've remembered everything.
You will not leave the breakfast table hungry, Lesley takes great pride in her stewed fruit and homemade jams/marmalade. Barry has the full english breakfast down to a fine art with everything being cooked fresh whilst you help yourselves to the fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and juice.
You will not be disappointed if you book to stay at Applewood.

“what a great find”

Applewood House

what a super find.

My sister and I stayed for one night but wished we could stay more. The rooms were spotless, and so tasteful, everything so fresh and bright, with lots of little touches that made all the difference, such as wine glasses with a bottle opener, TV. radio alarm and a CD player. Barry and Lesley were so obliging, even taking us into Harrogate in their own car. The walk back took us about 20 mins taking our time and a really nice walk. The breakfast was wonderful, fresh fruit , yogut, an English breakfast very well cooked, toast with homemade jams and marmalade we even had a toasted hot cross bun, it being Easter.. I have stayed in 4/5 star hotels not anywhere near as good as this. We will be booking again.
