The West Park's website describes their hotel as a 'Boutique Hotel'. I can tell you that this absolutely NOT a boutique hotel.
The building itself occupies a lovely location in Harrogate, situated within a row of fashionble shops and bars which stand opposite a lovely area of parkland. But don't let this fool you, inside we found one of the most poorly decorated hotels I have
ever seen. It was as if they had employed a group of teenagers to do the decorating, given them some orange, yellow and bronze paint, and then a free reign to do whatever they wanted - it was utterly bizzare in places. The general level of clenliness was average, certainly not what I would expect of a hotel. The shower in our room had no pressure and the water temperature at best was tepid! We pointed this out to reception that evening and they said they would ask someone to look at it. The next morning showed no improvement and we complained on departure. It seemed that they were aware that this was an ongoing problem and yet they continue to put people into rooms that don't have hot running water! We had to ASK for the bill to be reviewed as we felt this to be unacceptable and were offered a pathetic 10% - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH SOMEWHERE ELSE!

A lovely hotel in a lovely location close to the city centre.

The room was lovely though we had booked a suite and I considered the room we got was an executive room as it was large and spacious.

The room and bedroom were very clean.

The only disappointment with the hotel was the lack of internet in the room.

The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We arrived with trepidation having booked the hotel two changes of ownership ago. We booked the whole hotel for a brass band trip to Harrogate and cannot recommend the new owners highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were immaculately clean, the welcome was very warm and the location superb.

We look forward to a return trip and would recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a town centre location, its a very short walk to the conference centre, shops and restaurants, good location opposite the stray and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

If this is the standard that is achieved in three weeks we cannot wait to see it again in a few months time. Its worth a visit just to see the magnificent - new - chandelier that was installed in reception during the weekend.

Booked to stay at this hotel through work for a recent conference/exhibition in Harrogate. Chose its location as it’s only a short walk into town yet not right in the centre. Having read some of the previous comments posted on Trip Advisor however, we arrived at the hotel with some trepidation. Stayed for three days and couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. The new owners have obviously made an immediate impact.
The rooms were clean and well equipped the staff really helpful and welcoming.
Excellent choice at breakfast, nothing too much trouble for the kitchen/waitress staff.

The restaurant/bar was still awaiting re-opening under the new management team, but if the standards of food and service are any thing like the rest of the hotel during our stay they’ll be on to a winner.

Stayed in Harrogate a different hotels a number of times and the West Park will certainly be worth a re-visit.

“Such a Surprise”

I've stayed at the West Park a couple of times before and never had any intention of going back and why would we? The rooms were dirty, staff were unfriendly and unreliable. I was looking for a room in Harrogate for the 9th and 10th Sept, unfortunetely the Bridal fair was on and the whole town was fully booked so the only option was to go back to The West Park. It was the new owners first week and from the moment we stepped in we could tell the difference. All the staff go out of their way to provide a friendly and professional service, they really care that you are enjoying your stay. The rooms had been cleaned and repaired and we were told a refurb is due early next year. This is just what this hotel has been waiting for, it's in a perfect location with lots of character which is now being restored. We will definetely be going back now and looking forward to it.
