Quite an average hotel. Had business in swindon, stayed for one night. Extremely nice and helpful girl on reception. Left a motorcycle on the parking nearby, for free, but looked extremely suspicious and expected unexpected results when come back, but apparently the bike was fine.

On check in the price in the bill was different from one on the booking (89 instead of 50), but it was corrected immidiately after presenting printed out booking confirmation - but BE CAREFUL, READ THE BILL BEFORE YOU SIGN!

Room was OK, TV worked strange, and temperature in the room was OK.

Didn't had dinner in hotel, but the breakfast was quite neutral - not impressing either way.

Girl on reception was helpful again on checkout - left my backpack and motorcycle gear there for the whole day, and picked up after finished business - everything was fine.

Generally, I would say good 2+ stars hotel. A bit overranked. Would recommend if good deal.

I stayed at the Menzies on business last night. I was on my own - a female 6 months pregnant. The website looked fine and ticked all my requirements - including car park. When I arrived at the hotel just gone 20.00, I couldn't see the car park so phoned and was told to park in the NCP multi storey car park next door - apparently it is a secure car park. I parked, struggled to get down the stairs with my bags (the lift stops working after 8pm) and checked in. The hotel was fine. Went back to my car this morning to find it had been broken into - along with 3 other cars. Apparently when talking to the police - it is a regular occurence. The security guy in the car park was very helpful ... however I was surprised to find that the CCTV only covers the exits and entrances and does not cover any of the parking floors - hardly secure.
I went back into the hotel to wait for the police with one of the other car owners whose car had been broken into - and although we were offered a cup of tea, no-one bothered to check if we were ok - I think because it happens so regularly. For the priviledge, the car park cost us £6!
I feel that the website is misleading - I certainly wouldn't have booked it knowing that I had to park in an NCP car park and do not feel that it was safe. I would not book to stay there again.

“Not bad at all !”

Menzies Swindon

We stayed here for one night on the 1st December and after reading the reviews I was a bit worried.

Yes the rooms are small but they have everything you need and are clean.

There is a bit of mildew on the bathroom celing but as there is no window I presume this will be a problem.

The sheets were clean as were the towels with lots of hot water
for baths and showers and tea, coffee etc with a good reception on the television.

Good breakfast, nice and hot but seem to be understaffed so bringing you tea, coffee and toast was a little bit slow.

Not so nice-We were in room 302 which was so hot even with no heating on but I presume this is normal as there is a fan by the bed.

We were facing the main road at the front and I think Swindon has a probelm with trouble and boy racers who seem to use the main road as a race track .

There were police all over the town centre on Saturday night so it did put we off ever visting again but as we were on a coach trip putting up with this for one night it was not so bad but we could have done without the fight outside the hotel that woke everyone up at 1am.

“Crap”

I stay in many hotels all around europe and this is the worst 1 I have ever stayed in!!! First of all they cocked up our reservation, and we had no rooms, but managed luckily to get the last couple of rooms remining.
The rooms are unbeliveably small, and very dated. Our T.V didnt work for a start, and the room was red hot and overlooked a demolition site, NICE!!. The bathroom was so small that you couldnt swing a cat in it, and DIRTY, with scum and rust all over the tiles and grout.
Breakfast in the morning was a joke. They had run out of bacon and mushrooms, and only had a few sausges and hash browns left that looked ok.
The staff were not excatly polite, nor did they speak much english.
Would not got there ever again, and would not recomend this hotel to my worst enemy.
Could of ruined our weekend if we would of let it.

“Not recommended!!!”

Firstly, don't try the online booking system, we booked three double rooms well in advance and were given ref numbers on line. When we arrived they had no record of our bookings at all and told us this happens all the time with their website. Luckily, we managed to still get three doubles even though they had a wedding and two coach parties.

The rooms are small and dingy and need a refurb. I dropped my soap on the bathroom floor and when I picked it up, it was covered in black pubic hair, when I looked on the floor by the toilet it was dusty and dirty, in fact the whole bathroom was. We didn't get hardly any sleep as there was no air conidtioning and the windows wouldn't open. My sons TV didn't work either. Before we went out we had drinks in the bar, but they tasted funny, it seems the lemondade had a problem, they did give us more drinks but we were concerned.

We were advised to come down early for breakfast the next day as the coach parties were leaving at 8.30 and so we should avoid the restuarant until after 9am. Seeing as breakfast finished at 10am we decided to venture down around 9.15am. However, there were no mushrooms or bacon left. The beans were overcooked and warm and the scrambled egg was stuck to the tin and barely warm. There was no milk left and no more toast. In fact they were not cooking anymore, my other son came down about 20 mins later and didn't even bother, even though we had all paid for breakfast. The manager of the restaurant seemed very put out when I asked for more milk and it was about 15 mins before he came out with some. They had also started laying the tables for lunch and had no respect for us sitting down and moved tables and made a lot of noise around us leaving us feeling very unwelcome. My husband and my son were later ill, I can't put it down to the breakfast or the lemondade, but it does make you wonder.

I would not recommend this hotel and I wished we had booked the Travel Lodge opposite. This ruined a weekend away, I have written to Menzies HQ and it will be interesting to hear their comments.
