Beware should you have to cancel outside of 48 hours, you will be charged.
We were due to stay for 2 nights, but 30 hours before our departure, I was told by doctors, I had a blood clot on my lungs and could not fly. I called the hotel to cancel and the man was very nice and said it would be no problem to cancel as we were planning to make a further reservation in the hopes to travel there a month later.
This is all that was said at that time.
Upon getting my credit card statement, I found, however, that I had been charged for this stay.
I called the hotel to ask about it and was told the manager was not available but they would get back to me.
Days passed and having heard nothing, I called them again.
I was told again the manager not there and all information was taken again and promised they would send me an email with their answer.
Again, no emails and no phone calls.
I gave them plenty of time as I even waited till my credit card statement came again to see if there was any credit given.
Seeing none was, I called the hotel again.
This time, talking yet again to another, none of the previous people were available, I was told that they charge for any cancelation outside of 48 hours no matter what the problem is.
Not even a death in family will be given credit.
