This hotel was booked by my parents for the night before me and my boyfriend travelled to Barcelona. We didn’t really get to see the grounds properly as we arrived at about 7.30pm, by which point it was dark. The lobby is a very nice and check in was very quick. Our room was large in size with a good size bathroom and very clean. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the airport but you must book this in advance. I thought the price of £2.50 per person was very reasonable as I have stayed in various other Gatwick hotels where shuttles have been as much as £6.00 per person, in which case it has been cheaper to take a taxi. The shuttle took approximately 15 minutes from the hotel to the North terminal.

We didn’t eat in the hotel as we decided to try the Beefeater just down the road. The meal was lovely and is nice and close if you fancy having a drink.

Staying at Gatwick before you fly is definitely a nice way to start your holiday and the Copthorne Effingham Park was no exception.

A very convenient hotel if you're flying out of Gatwick. Pleasantly quiet when we stayed (Sun and Mon). Room was a double - decor a bit dated (as is usual in the UK!) but very clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly. Pool and gym basic but good to have. 'Sports Bar' prices very steep and a shame that breakfast isn't included in the price.
Left car parked at the hotel while on holiday - it wasn't moved when we were away which was good. Shuttle bus service to airport was quick & on time. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay .

“Location its only appeal”

Copthorne Effingham Park London Gatwick

For the second time we stayed here on a deal for one night with parking so as to travel from Gatwick.
The initial impression is promising but once past the reception area you can see how tired the hotel is, even to the condition of signs on the walls and doors. Our rooms needed refurbishment and the showers were affected heavily by limescale.
The hotel health club is gloomy and negligently maintained .
Breakfast was a buffet and although the staff were pleasant the hot food had been ( insufficiently) cooked a long time before then not kept very warm.
Comments on their feedback form and later by email have not produced any reaction.

My husband and son stayed here on 19th April prior to a flight early the next morning. It took a while to check in and then when we got to the room, despite having booked a triple room, there was one small ( and I mean small) double bed. The room was of a really good size though and the bathroom had separate shower and large bath as well. no complaints really about the room. clean and tidy.
We spoke to the lady at reception re a bed for our 6 year old son and was told that one had not been requested, I explained that we had booked a triple room but she replied that unless we specifically request one then most children sleep in the double with their parents ( I THINK NOT!!) anyway eventually we got a more than ample camp bed for my son and he was happy.
we went to the sports bar for some food and drinks, and even though not a bargain, this is a hotel not far from london and prices reflect this. food similar to a pub but it was tasty and well cooked.
Our room overlooked the bus stop and as such from 4.10am onwards was woken up every half hour (at least the buses were punctual). I then decided to cancel my alarm call as I was awake and wanted my son to sleep longer. I phoned reception, who took a while to answer, and asked if they could cancel this for me. The gentlemens response was, and i quote, " i've just ran half a mile across the hotel for that" ! and put the phone down on me !
This hotel is fine for an overnighter before your hols, but that is all.
We paid £85 including 8 days parking so wasnt expecting 5 star luxury.
Transfer to the airport is an additional charge but they were kind enough not to charge for our son.
Upon our return to england we picked the keys up straightaway with no problems.
You get what you pay for!

My daughter and I came to England to tour colleges and decided to stay close to Gatwick rather than in London. Our room was very clean, and the staff was excellent. My only complaint was using room service one morning, it was 40 minutes late because the person who took my order forgot to tell anyone.
Other than this one incident, it was a pleasant week and well worth the money. I even accidentally flooded the bathroom while taking a shower and the concierge came right to our room to mop up my mess!! It was always quiet and very relaxing. I would stay here again.
