We stayed here for a birthday party, the function hall was very large and the buffet food was nice with a good selection.

The hotel reception is nice, as is the buffet breakfast, lots of choice and very tasty. although we did have to stand in a line for 25mins to get a table as it was very busy.

The room was ok, quite dated, I think the hotel could do with a re-vamp. but we did have three people in one room, they had a sofa bed put in for us and for £99 including the breakfast I really cannot complain, it was a bargain.

the swimming pool again could do with a tidy up the ladys showers we not clean and the jacuzzie was drained of water and dirty, so we took one look at the shower/changing rooms and never bothered to go into the pool, we herad people complaining it was very cold.

But as i said for £99 for 3 people with breakfast its a great price, if i had paid the rack rate of £175 I would not of been happy

It is set in lovely grounds though and also has a nice sports bars which you can get food and drink in.

I would say its more of a 3 star hotel as is could do with being updated a little

“Absolute disaster”

Upon arrival there was noone at reception desk. Finally one lady came, not well presented and uniform was not complete too. Staff generally very very unfriendly and entire stay we did not get a smile from them. In the evening called reception from my room - three times and once again there was nobody to pick up my call. All questions were answered very unpofessional and unfriendly manner. I had a feeling that hotel staff really dont know why they are there.
After check out I called back to the hotel as my friend left her watch and keys in the room but they said noone found anything and hang up my call on half word .......
No vale for the money.....absolute disaster hotel in the middle of nowhere.

“A bargain and a nice hotel to boot.....”

Copthorne Effingham Park London Gatwick

My Wife and I stayed at the Copthorne Effingham Park for 1 night prior to a flight to Atlanta. We included 8 nights parking and only paid £79 in total through FHR, a bargain for the Gatwick area. This hotel was a mystery hotel where the website only lets you know the hotel after booking, but a bit of investigation on the website leads you to pretty much be 100% sure it is the Effingham Park Copthorne. I was very pleased with the outcome having stayed at the other Copthorne back in 1999.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds near Copthorne Village, about a ten minute drive from Gatwick Airport. There is a huge car park at the front, where I was pleased to learn my car would remain for the whole duration. At busier times, the hotel does state that cars may be moved to another secured location.

Lobby is very nice and check in was efficient. Considering it was nearing Easter holidays I was surprised by how quiet the hotel was, but as there are so many options in and around Gatwick I guess everybody else just chose somewhere else to stay.

Our room was reasonably spacious (by UK standards) and was well furnished. It had an "oldish" feel to the room, but that added to the character and the bathroom was a nice size, with a lovely well pressured shower. The only thing I could fault was that the housekeeping had left the radiators on (it wasn't particularly cold outside) and upon entering the room the heat was unbearable. We soon switched them off and opened some windows, but I did find it quite difficult to sleep, although the bed was extremely comfortable.

We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel opting to give the North Terminal (always flown from the South) a try which proved a good decision. The buffet breakfast did look quite good though with plenty of options. I'm not sure what the cost was, but these kind of airport hotels do seriously overcharge for breakfast, so I would think £12+ would be a good starting point.

The hotel to airport transfer (£2.50pp each way) was good value and only a few minutes late due to an accident on the M23. You do have to book this when checking in as space is limited but it was clean and only took ten minutes to get across to the airport. On the way back we had the fortune of a bus already being in the layby as we came out of the arrivals hall, so we got on and were back at the hotel in no time. I am not too sure on the schedules on the way back but going out it was every hour on the half hour. Worth bearing in mind.

Our car was still in the same spot we left it as promised and we were handed the keys back. A fairly faultless experience really.

All in all I would certainly consider the Copthorne Effingham Park again when flying from Gatwick especially if we can get a deal on an overnight and parking. Staff were friendly and the whole experience was very efficient.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your positive review of our hotel, we very much appreciate your comments and we are really pleased that you enjoyed most aspects of the hotel. We always endeavor to improve our services and facilities where we can and take notice of all comments from our guests, both good and not so good.

On the breakfast front, we would just like to inform Trip Advisor members that our charge for a full English breakfast is £11 which we feel is very reasonable, particularly as for children under 12 this is half price. I hope that we can therefore be exempt from the general belief that airport hotels overcharge for their breakfasts! Also, regarding the airport shuttle bus, it is indeed every hour, but varies between on the half hour and quarter past the hour, please check the timetables at the time of your stay as this may be subject to seasonal changes. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Really friendly and helpful staff. We decided at the last minute to stay on our way back as well and the receptionist done us a great deal on the family room, considering it was last minute in December. Just watch what they charge you for breakfast, as under 12's are half price and 2 year old's are free. They did try and charge as for 4 full paying adults, but the receptionist picked up on this, as the bill is computerised from the restaurant to your room number. The car was really safe while left in their car park and Hotel Connect buses always run on time to Gatwick Airport. Ideal Hotel for Gatwick Airport with famailies who have children.

Stayed here for one night before our holiday, simply on the basis of the price of the parking!(£110.00 for 2 weeks).
Its a rather odd building which appears to be based on a spanish villa. The reception staff were polite and helpful and we were given an upgraded room free of charge.
The room whilst spacious with a balcony it was a bit dated (as much of the hallways and communial area's).
The shower was a best a dribble.
We went to the Bar to watch the Football(it was Englands last of qualification)however left before we could finish our drinks and returned to the room as the bar was a rather souless Basement.
Room service was the usual fair and we thought expensive.
The Shuttle service on our return was slow-we waited over an hour at Gatwick.
