We stayed twice here on our way to U.S. and coming back. On our way to the U.S. we reallyl liked the hotel. It's has a traditional english charm and the fresh country air is really refreshing for being an airport hotel. My three girls loved exploring the hotel grounds and watching the swan and ducks in the pond. Food was o.k. and rooms were big. However we were given the very last room in the place which is quite far from the lobby. Gatwick bus comes to pick up passengers in the morning, but there is a fee, as usual. Lovely bar in lobby that is a reflection of a beautiful library with lovely old wood. However, coming back from the U.S. we had a totally different experience. Usually airport hotels have a half day rate as some people arrive at the airport in the early morning hours. At the most, we would have been willing to pay for the whole day. They gave us one room at 7:30am even though we wanted two (for a family of five). We were told the second room would be ready after 2pm. The room was small and we requested a larger room. They gave us a handicap room which had only two twin beds. Three of us ended up sleeping on the floor without any blankets or pillows after being jet lagged. They moved us twice and then at the end gave us two beautiful rooms but without Air Conditioning. We did use fans which is what we usually do in Europe. The older part of the hotel is not air conditioned. Many of the staff are international, chinese, indian and they don't speak english very well. In conclusion, beautiful hotel, can be good or bad depending on your needs.
