Stayed 2 different nights, both before a morning Gatwick flight.
The hotel lobby is great and the staff was helpful. The convenience of walking right in to the South terminal is worth any minor flaws this average business traveler's hotel may have.

Our first room was a standard King N/S. It faced the highway away from the runways. Pretty quiet, but my wife said she heard a few sirens through the night. The room needed an update. It was clean enough, but the carpet is worn. No iron was provided in the standard room, but there was a trouser press that did nothing for my wrinkled clothes. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

Second night we checked in late and got moved up to a Superior room since it was the only N/S room left at no additional charge. This one was bigger and a little better appointed than the first room. Same carpet, but not quite as worn. Upgraded TV (LCD instead of tube) and granite countertop in the bath. Same comfortable bed with fluffy pillows. Slept great.

If they'll update the rooms, they'll have a great hotel for making a quick exit from London. Until then it's an average business traveler style hotel, but that convenience is worth the extra money to me.

stayed one night in between flights. the hotel is very convenient since it is connected to the terminal. comfortable rooms and excellent service. you can't go wrong.

My wife and I spent one afternoon at the Sofitel London Gatwick on May 26th, 2006 during a long layover at Gatwick. The hotel offers day rooms from 9AM-6PM for 76 pounds (VAT inclusive). This was a wonderful deal for two people who didn't get much sleep on an overnight flight from the USA.

Location: Hotel is conveniently located in the North terminal. The South terminal is only a 3 minute airport train ride away. The train is located right next door to the hotel.

Rooms: Not gigantic but very comfortable. Our room had a very comfortable queen bed. Couldn't hear any noise from the planes outside nor the atrium inside. Shower in the bathroom had good pressure and salon-quality shampoo.

Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel. We were rested, clean, and satisfied after our stay at the Sofitel Gatwick.

Stayed one night in June courtesy of British Airways after our flight was cancelled. Easy to get to as it is connected directly to the North Terminal. Room was clean and fairly large although a little dated and well worn. No aircraft noise was audible. The TV carries flight information which was handy. Staff were helpful. Breakfast consisted of a buffet with a good selection on fruit/cereal and bacon/egg etc. Would be a good choice if arriving late or departing early but no doubt if you actually have to pay ,this convenience will cost
