After a long flight and a late night arrival at Gatwick my partner and I just wanted to settle into our hotel for a comfortable night's sleep. The first obstacle to this was that the hotel was very difficult to locate, it isn't as near to the airport as one might expect and I would therefore recommend all potential guests to ensure that they have sat-nav or very thorough directions. The directions that we had were sent along with the booking confirmation and I found them very confusing.
Upon eventual arrival, we had to pay £5 for car parking (£5 per 24 hours) and had to navigate a very small and twisty car park ramp to a car park with limited space. It may be recommended to book this in advance if possible during peak holiday time.
When inside, the hotel was very clean and the check in staff were very pleasant and polite. It seems however that if one requires more than a bed then it comes with a cost...Airport transfers if one needs a shuttle bus, come at a price. There is a deposit to hire adaptor plugs for example and also even though we had paid some £70 for a room, our breakfast wasn't included - a continental breakfast was an extra £6 each.
The room we occupied was surprisingly spacious, the television was very good and there was a kettle with some tea bags and coffee sachets for drinks. Bathrooms were a 'pod' style with sink, lavatory and shower all in one concealed area in the corner of the room. Clean towels were provided and we had no complaints at all with the overall furnishings or the comfort of the bed, which was welcome after a long flight.
To conclude therefore I would recommend the Ibis on the grounds of cleanliness, pleasantness of staff and comfort of the rooms. On the downside, it is very difficult to locate and appeared a bit pricey to me considering that we weren't even getting breakfast.
