We stayed here for two nights – one late May and the other in early June, both before and after a two-week holiday.

At Gatwick, there is a courtesy phone from which many hotels can be called regarding shuttle buses, etc. The first night we called and we were told the next bus would be there about 20 minutes later, which it was (give or take 5 minutes). The journey from the airport to the hotel is free, while there’s a charge of £4.50 per passenger for the return journey (it’s safest to book this at reception, as the bus can easily be full, especially at busy times).

The second night, we arrived back in Gatwick at around 21:30 and I called the hotel to find out the times of buses, as I wanted to eat something in the airport before going to the hotel. They said to ring them once I was ready and that they’d send the bus right away. We rang back later, only to be told this time that the buses had stopped running (at 23:00 apparently).. However, we jumped in a taxi (£11) and the reception staff reimbursed us the taxi fare without a problem.

Check-in and check-out were a little bit slow, but not too bad. Staff were friendly, so no complaints there.

The first room we had was on the fifth floor at the back of the hotel with great views over the local countryside. The second room was on the second floor with a great view of a busy road. If booking, request a room on a higher floor at the back of the hotel, if these little things matter to you.

Both rooms (and the bathrooms) were more-or-less identical, both spotlessly clean and modern, with Satellite TV,. It was our first time staying in an Ibis and we were totally satisfied and will certainly think about Ibis again.

There was a small bar and restaurant in the lobby area, and although we didn’t try the food it didn’t look bad. There are also snacks available 24 hours a day.

Other reviews mentioned a lot of noise from people coming and going for flights at all hours, but this never kept me awake.

Crawley town centre is only a 20-25 minute stroll from the hotel, and was a nice, picturesque town with a lot of historic buildings still in use. Cinemas, lots of chain food outlets (KFC, McD’s, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, etc.) are all easy to find.

Overall, we felt we made a good choice with this hotel as the price was as low as we could find for the area, the rooms were clean and the town was nearby.

We found the Ibis Gatwick to be charming, friendly, and convenient to the airport. Food was nice in the restaurant, the room was clean and the staff friendly.

“Great with parking package”

My boyfriend and I only stayed here for 1 night before we went away on a two week holiday and bought it as a parking package.

It was actually cheaper to park and stay than it was to just park. We used Holiday Extras to book.

The hotel was nice and Ikea-ish. Only problem was that it's a bit noisy, as most people are getting up for flights and that happens at all hours!

Didn't eat there, there's a restaurant about 200 yards away that did decent food though.

Good for a short stay before you fly from Gatwick.

I have stayed at the Ibis a few times now and the last time was definately the ;last, i would rather get up earlier or pay a bit more for the amount of sleep i got. The place itself is clean, but the bed was so uncomfortsble almost like sleeping on a rock! At first I put it down to excitement, but having given i 2 more goes, i realise that its not me, its the hotel.

The food is disppointing too, we arrived starving so we thought we would get something to eat there was little tp chose from and what i did order was awful! i advise you eat before you get there if you can!
If you don mind hard matresses then this would be okay for you, but if you prefer a more comfortable bed then i would stay somehwere else!

We stayed here the night before we flew to America. We had originally planned to stay at Russ Hill Hotel, but having read the reviews on here we decided we would not touch it with a barge pole!!!

We booked the airport car parking seperately and everything worked fine. The hotel was fairly easy to find - quite a way south of Gatwick airport, which can be deceiving when you're trying to find it at night, but it's on a main road and cannot be missed (as long as you keep on that road for long enough - about 15 to 20 mins drive from the airport itself). We had booked online so assumed hotel was paid for, but apparently not. Also, got told it was £5 to park in the hotel car park for the night - we didn't have much choice but I was rather annoyed, especially since when we parked the car, the spaces were so small none of us could get out of the car (and we're not that big)!!! They then proceeded to put a higher amount through the credit card machine, which annoyed me further - not a good start to our holiday - but it appears that that was a security measure, as the correct amount (plus parking) was debited upon checkout (although I am yet to double-check my card statement to ensure they have not charged me multiple times for our stay).

The room itself was clinically clean and very pleasant with tea/coffee making facilities, TV etc however the elevator kept chirping away to itself all night which got a little tiresome after a while. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs which is reasonably priced and the food looked ok. We chose to go to the Hungry Horse at Charlwood instead though (through past good experience)!

All in all, this hotel was pleasant enough - except for the messing around with room charges and,of course, the car park charge.
