“food was lovely”

Premier Inn London - Gatwick Airport

stayed here before our flight the next day.Rooms were very comfortable with lovely soft towels.. rare in airport hotels i found.
We ate in the restaurant that evening, which was busy.
The food was lovely.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, maybe thats why the food was exspensive it was the servive we got.
The wake-up call was on time, and check out was quick.
There is a shuttle bus between the hotel and gatwick airport, which only takes ten mintes.Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

I have never complained about anything in my life but i have made an exception for this hotel! It is the worst i have ever stayed in. They say they have a shuttle bus that runs every 30 mins, well the bus driver saw us standing at the terminal however he slowed down then when we were about to get on the bus he just drives off! So we had to wait another 45 mins until the bus came down again. This was 11 o'clock at night and we had a flight at 6am the next morning. We were so tired all we wanted to do was sleep. We rang the hotel to say the bus just drove off and when we eventually got on the bus the driver started yelling at us saying that we hadn't been there the last time he was at the terminal. Funny thing was there were other people who got on the bus at the same time, how did he know it was us who rang to inform the hotel about the bus if he never seen us???? The worst was still to come. You had to pay £2.50 each, which was a total rip off and check in was so busy. We eventually got into our room at 1am, the rooms looked ok. We got into bed and 5 minutes later my boyfriend turned on the light above the bed cause he felt something on him and it was an some sort of big insect thing which i have never seen before. After that i would'nt even sleep in the bed. I sat in the chair and watched tv until 4am and got ready to check out. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Then if all that wasn't bad enough the so called shuttle bus that morning had broken down!!!!!!! They eventually had to call us all taxi's. What a nightmare!! I was so glad just to get to the airport at last and get away from that place. As i say i don't normally complain and therefore said nothing to the hotel as they would have just igorned it anyway. So i am letting all you people out there that are thinking of going here DONT! I would advise you to pay the little extra and stay at one of the other hotels you can WALK straight from the airport into, like the Hilton. As they say, you get what you pay for.

“Not bad at all”

First of all, I want to thank the people who posted the walking directions from the North terminal. I would like to add that the mentioned "Gathering Area" signs were either invisible (6:30 PM) or were easy to overlook; but your main guiding point should be the merging upper (departures) and lower (arrivals, where you get off) decks; from the merging point make a left, walk for a couple of minutes, cross the road towards the BP gas station, go through the bushes encircling the hotel's parking lot towards the main entrance (illuminated electric purple at night time).

The rooms are good, the staff is courteous, the amenties are all right. When using the hotel's phones with a c/c the rates are highway robbery but the hotel sells its own Premier-something-phonecards with the five times lower rates; don't forget to purchase them at reception since you find it out only after you get to your room and then it's too late to go back etc. Of course for $130-plus a night you can get a palace (compared to this hotel) in the US but the location beats everything else. Not bad at all... great for passengers departing from the North terminal.

“Convenient and good standard”

I stayed here and left my car in the car park when I went on holiday. As usual the Premier Inn is good value for money and customer service is a strong point. It really took the stress out of getting an early flight and I also stayed on the way back as I did not want to drive late a night.

A positive experience I will be taking advantage of again.

You get what you pay for. The location is hard to beat. Minutes from the south terminal. We parked our rental car there for the night and droped it next door to the terminal the next morning. The rooms are specious and well equipted. The food is not gourment but you drive elsewhere easily. Sure, it's a "machine" but it's a nice machine!
