For a tasty lunch or scrummy tea you can't beat the Jelly Roll Cafe. Freshly prepared food, home-made cakes and scones and a friendly atmosphere. Lots of healthy salad and sandwich options and vegetarian choice - not to mention very unhealthy cakes (yum yum!). The decor is quirky, includes pictures for sale, and it's an old building, so there's not a right angle in the place.
Only open during the day, because owner Debby Arthur has another life as a talented (and much in demand) jazz drummer and singer. Which explains the name of the cafe!
My main complaint is that it's often full and people tend to linger, because it's such a happy place to be.
Not licensed, but then the coffee is superb.
