I had pre-booked my Ibis hotel in the UK before leaving the USA.
I had reckoned to drive north from Heathrow via Glasgow to Scotland. I wouldn’t normally advocate that but I was arriving before mid-day on a Friday and knew I would be well clear of London before rush hour – in fact well before I could have boarded my flight to Aberdeen. Last minute domestic flights in the UK tend to be almost as expensive as a transatlantic crossing and so if you are going to need a car and your schedule permits the time, you might as well do it out of London.

By my reckoning I could make it to Ibis Fulwood, north Preston by around 4pm – and if the M6 hadn’t been so congested I might have done that. As it was I arrived around 6pm.
The hotel is very well located just where the M6 and the motorway to Blackpool intersect. The room was large by Ibis standards and very comfortable.
I doubt the hotel was very busy and as the weather was appallingly rainy I was just happy to get in there.

There was a large pub about 50 yards away across the large car park - but none of the staff seemed much interested to take an order so I returned to obtain food in the Ibis – good, served quickly and at a reasonable price.
They also do a range of beers on draught and they ought to do a little more to encourage those sales
Similarly the breakfast was well presented and very adequate.

Staff was (as usual in Britain these days) Polish and pleasant.
I recommend Ibis Preston North
It is seconds from the M6 and very convenient for north/ south travelers.
It compares very favourably against the much more basic Travelodges at a similar price.

This hotel delivers exactly what it promises. A simple clean modern room, with en suite shower room. Its not the place to go and write your first novel, but if you just want a bed its fine. The staff were efficient and friendly, You can comfortably come and go as you please. It sits hard against the motorway so you know you need to keep the windows shut, but its very handy if travelling.
We had breakfast, Its a bit plastic but all edible and plentiful. Certainly better than stopping en route for a service station breakfast.

Good value for price. Room was clean. No problem with noise. No frills, but you get what you pay for. If you just want a clean room to crash for the night, you can't go wrong!

“Cheap n nearly cheerful”

This wasn't our first choice, and only ended up staying here due to all other hotels in the area were fully booked. Booked a double room which was basic, as most motel based hotels are. No bath, but shower was good. Recommend you give the breakfast a miss unless you either get there late or early as possible, as there isn't a proper restaurant, just a bit of a cafe next the reception/lounge bit. The day we stopped, there was a coach party, so all the tables were taken - ended up eating our toast and cereal off our laps on one of the lounge sofas (no cooked breakfasts available at this hotel). Staff cheerful enough.

Not my 1st - 1th choice inclusive but my other choices were fully booked.

Typical motorway junction hotel and fairly well-priced. Room is standard format, standard decor. I didn't mind the omission of the bath and preferred the double length shower. Do ask for a room facing away from the motorway. Don't stay here if you value fresh air as some kind of daily smokefest appears to be held in the morning in the lounge adjoining the reception in the morning.

It felt slightly neglected, evidenced by the food waste that lay uncollected from outside of the hotel for 2 days. The breakfast was dire, the boiled eggs must have been several days old judging by their BLACKNESS !.

The adjacent pub, the 'Phantom Winger' is suicide inducing especially for the weary lone traveller. Try instead the 'Traders Arms' in Mellor, 10 minute drive away.
