Went for a long weekend on a coach tour. Hotel staff everywhere - reception, bar and especially restaurant were excellent. Very helpful and nothing too much trouble. The food was very good and the room was very clean and comfortable. We had rooms at the car park side which were quiet, but some people said the canal-side was noisy. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. We really enjoyed our stay.

We went to this hotel as a coach party on a health and beauty weekend.
The beauty treatment bookings and allocation of rooms had to be questioned as we had some problems in these areas. The staff on reception were not very understanding, we felt they needed some training in customer service. On arrival at our room, we found cigarette ash on the carpet (we are non smokers) biscuit crumbs and clumps of hair under the hairdrier, we went to reception and asked for another room but were told the room had been cleaned, we disputed this and were told there were no other rooms available as there was a wedding party booked in. The housekeeper was sent to the room and she again said it had been cleaned, on our return the ash had been removed but the hair and crumbs still visible. I asked for a hoover to do it myself, the reply was that it was fibres from a new carpet and not hairs. Sorry we didnt fall for that one.

As there were apparently no other rooms available we were given chocolates and two bathrobes, we had been upgraded!!!

The pool, jacuzzi, steam, sauna and gym all very good. The beauty treatments also very relaxing. No complaints there.

Evening meal was very good and the breakfast excellent.

On Sunday they had an offer of discount on drinks in the pricey bar, unfortunately nobody had told the barman who continued to charge full price. We had to make a complaint at reception but the staff didnt seem bothered, perhaps no-one bothers to complain and they think all is well.

It is in a very noisy setting with the bars that have opened up on the waterfront which is a shame as I had been to this hotel when it first opened and it was perfect, we did ventrure out to the bars but didn`t feel safe in the dark so went back to the hotel bar. Daytime though it is a pleasant walk along the canal.

MerryHill Shopping Centre is a short walk away and is very good if you feel the need to shop.

This is a nice hotel, I think they are starting to replace carpets in the rooms, they could do with the beauty treatments being housed in a proper environment instead of having to use bedrooms, this would make more rooms available in case of complaints. The housekeeping, restaurant and leisure staff were all very friendly but the reception let the side down, perhaps they were more interested in the spending power of the wedding parties than that of a coach trip.

Modern hotel - no air conditioning in the 15 rooms we occupied - windows open less than inch. Food - meat and fish overcooked - vegetables !(packets of frozen vegetables). Seating in the bar area had cigarette burns, cuts in the seating, dried in food and drink stains. Staff couldn't care less when complaints were made about the food and service etc. At night extremely noisy with all the pubs for the youngsters opposite, so sleep is just about impossible.
Give it a miss.

This hotel offers good value rates at weekends and we have no complaint about the value, quality or comfort of the connoisseur room allocated. However, staff at check-in were efficient but offhand--no eye contact. We had to wait for a converstation between no less than three members of staff to finish at checkout before anyone bothered to look up. Food in the restaurant was variable--poor starter which was hardly warm. Waiter with attitude was rather brusque, trying to give impression that he was rushed off his feet despite there being only 4 couples in the restaurant! Again, no eye contact. Bar staff unwelcoming. Maybe it's better midweek.
