This was one of the most unpleasant hotel stays which I have ever endured. We paid £110 per double room which were effectively in a building site with the builders commencing work at 8am. They were constructing another floor immediately above both doubles so the noise was very loud. One of the rooms, although for non-smokers, stank of old fag butts. The walls and doors were so thin that one was awoken by other guests closing their doors. Neither shower worked and produced only cold water. Neither radiators had been switched on so one of us awoke at 4am absolutely freezing whilst the second awoke at 6am absolutely freezing. The mattresses were uncomfortable. The lighting was unsympathetic. The bathrooms were small and as mentioned before the showers don't work.
On the plus side the bar and restaurant had friendly staff and the food was not bad.
It is however unforgiveable of management to charge a full fare for rooms which are in a building site.

The Crown Hotel

Just came back from 2 day New Year Break, We could'nt find any fault at all and we will certainly return. The food was excellent and the staff mavellous, although the hotel was full they always seem to have time to have a friendly chat. The new years' party was rearly great, a excellent DJ and good music.

Well done "The Crown" see you next new year if not before

“OK but certainly nothing special.”

The Crown is really a pub/restaurant and although it does have a certain charm, the accommodations are a little lacking. The annex, where the main bulk of the rooms are located, has really been done on the cheap, it's creaky, noisey and not wearing very well. Avoid the rooms adjacent to the car park as you won't get a wink of sleep with engines starting, doors slamming and alarms going off right outside your window. The Hotel does get very hot in Summer. There is little or no mobile phone reception, so businessmen beware and the wireless internet is incredibly slow. The bar area and restaurant are pleasant and atmospheric but the rooms are decorated in a very depressing dark brown colour and not helped by the very subdued lighting. Bathrooms are ok but a little like something your Dad might have knocked together from B & Q.
The staff are always very friendly though.

Stayed here for three days and put on a little bit of weight due to the good food.
When booking in we noticed our card only had us marked down for one nights stay, but the receptionist quickly put it right and all done with a smile.
The Bedroom was spotless not even dust on top of the wardrobe. Large comfy bed, plenty of tea and coffee and a lovely flatscreen tv.
Like another reviewer I found the breakfast service slow due to only one person serving before 7:30.
For the evening meal try the Thai Fishcakes as a starter they are lovely.
This is one hotel that I will definitly visit again

Stayed at The Crown for one night on business and was taken with it. Rooms were clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and a good sized en-suite.

Dinner was well prepared and timely served. Breakfast was OK, but there was a lot of bare plate surrounding the food! It reminded me of a guest house I once stayed at in Llandudno!

Definately recommend The Crown Hotel, Bawtry to all!.
