We stayed here for one night in October 2006. We love this hotel - it is by far the best hotel in Doncaster!
I will admit that we may be a little biased as we had our wedding here the year before and the whole experience was fantastic.
We thought we would make it an annual treat to come and stay at the hotel on our wedding anniversary and it was everything we hoped for.
When I booked I asked them for a room similar to the bridal suite we had enjoyed the year before and that's what we got. The room was very large and tastefully decorated, the TV was flat screen with loads of sky channels and the en-suite was amazing - bigger than the actual room of most hotels we've stayed in in the past.
We booked in for a meal in the restaurant and the choice was varied and very much to our taste. The service was good and impressively quick especially given the large birthday party that was seated at the other side of the restaurant.
Breakfast the following morning was also delicious and all staff members we came into contact with were friendly.

We would definitely recommend this hotel. We're not exactly used to 4* accommodation and are therefore probably not qualified to comment as to how this one compares to other hotels in the same class but we don't think you would find a much better one.

We will be returning for a meal and overnight stay for our anniversary again this year.

“Consistently excellent”

I visit this area on business at least fortnightly and often weekly and have done so for the last two years.

I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. Every room, I am gradually working through the entire hotel, is individual and in its way superb.

Even the cheapest rooms have large comfortable beds, lounge areas and desks. If you pay that little bit extra to go up a category of room, or push the boat out with a mini suite you will not be disappointed.

During my time there I have stayed in the rooms with a 'mud bed' (a type of waterbed and my personal favourite) four posters, testers, half testers and beds with Tempura memory foam mattresses.

The bathrooms include wet rooms, baths with aromatherapy and light massage, showers easily big enough for two, plenty of towels and superior toiletries.

Room service (as a woman staying there on her own I often take advantage of this) always delivers piping hot, high quality food. 'Roast of the day' is a particularly good choice.

The restaurant is generally superb if a little pricey for the area. - Personally I think worth every penny.

The bar until very recently used ot sell exotic cigars many of which should have come with their own ASBO which meant it was a bit smoky however from 1st March 2007 it becomes a no smoking hotel.

Recently a spa area has opened although I have yet to take advantage of this.

All in all an excellent hotel.

“Service that makes a difference”

Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel

I visited the Mount Pleasant Hotel just after Christmas. When I arrived the hotel was extremely quiet which to be honest was slightly offputting at first, but considering it was a Sunday night in January it was maybe to be expected. Checking in was a real pleasure and the girl at reception could not do enough to make me feel welcome. My room was warm and comfortable with a large four poster bed, a large walk in shower and bath.
After settling in to my room i decided I would use the hotels restaurant for a quick bite to eat before heading for a luxorious early night. I went to the reception to enquire about a table for dinner, i was directed into the bar which although was quiet, had a warm and welcoming feeling. I took a seat in the bar and after a matter of seconds i was greeted by Garath, I remember this young lads name due to the remarkable manners and service he displayed. He got me a drink and made sure throughout the entire evening that I never had an empty glass. He single handly looked after me through the entire evening both in the bar and in the restaurant and made what was going to be a quick bite into eat a delightful dining experience.
The restaurant at the hotel, despite having a limited menu had a nice atmosphere and was beautifully decorated. After dinner i retired to my room and had a full nights sleep in one of the most comfortable beds i had ever slept in.
The follow morning I had breakfast in bed before checking out and making the short five minute journey to the airport.
I will definately re-visit the Mount Pleasant, an excellent hotel unlike any other I have ever visited and where the fantastic service from both the girl at reception and the Garath really did make the difference to my stay. I only hope all the staff at the hotel have are as welcoming and pleasant.

“Great comfort at Mount Pleasant.”

Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel

We have just returned from a two night stay at Mount Pleasant and we can certainly recommend it very highly. Our room was superb, we booked an executive one in order to have a larger bed than the standard one. The bathroom was excellent, thick fluffy towels, big bath, great shower and plenty of hot water. It was zero outside but the room was warm and comfortable. The view from our windows was of the surrounding fields. Before leaving we checked out the standard rooms in case that is all on offer next time we need accomodation in the area. We tried the bed and though a 4'6", the mattress was comfortable. The bathroom looked good. Both the standard rooms that we viewed were bright and cheerful, overlooking a large lawned courtyard. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights and the food was good and the chef is adventurous! The breakfasts were great too, plenty to choose from, super croissants! The staff were attentive and courteous and the general ambience was clean, friendly and cheerful. There's plenty of parking. Pat and Peter Booth. 25th Jan 07.

“Very Unpleasant!”

Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel

I Having just checked out of this hotel (05/01/07) I feel compelled to write and explain what one can expect when staying at the Mount Pleasant. Upon arriving at reception they did have my reservation – although this was efficient it was also unfortunate, as this was the ONLY thing they managed to get right. I booked one of the executive rooms, although what sort of executive they normally cater for bewilders me. The room was small, the bed was made out of concrete (or so it felt) but worse of all, it was absolutely FREEZING COLD! The radiator had not been turned on and the window was ajar, not exactly conclusive to a nice warm stay on a cold January evening. So I turned the radiator on and went to the bar for a drink and something to eat while the room warmed up. At the bar I was served reasonably quickly, although judging by the five cars in the car park and only one other person in the bar, this was not surprising. I ordered a beer and looked through the menu, which did not take long, as the only things on offer were sandwiches and burgers! I really am not one to frequent McDonalds and I don’t expect to have the only options for dinner being burger on it’s own, burger with cheese or the grand finally, a tex-mex burger, whatever that may be! So I thought I’d skip dining in the bar, finished my beer and returned to the fridge which they called my room. Upon viewing the room service menu, which incredibly for a ‘so called’ four star hotel contained the same sandwich or burger options as the bar, I gave in to the hunger pains (not to mention the need for something warm) and telephone room service to order a burger, this was at 8.22pm. By 9.22pm I gave up on the wishful thought that they were breaking the mould and making me a burger which actually resembled something edible, and I telephoned room service, only to be told that they could not see the order and would check with the kitchen and call me straight back. Some fifteen minutes later when the chap who originally took my order called to say he forgot to write it down(!) I was getting a little peeved, I told him to forget trying to remember it for a second time and thought I’d have a hot bath to warm-up instead. I did manage to run a hot bath, the only problem is that unless you are 3ft tall, you will not fit in it! After a little paddle (which in all honesty did warm my feet up) I decided to give up on the bad experience and go to bed. Did I say bed? Sorry, I mean lye down. A bed is supposed to be comfortable; this was like lying on the M4. Anyway I did manage to get some sleep. In the morning I awoke and opened the curtains which provided the most remarkable view of the courtyard (prisoner cell block H sprang to mind) the view (for want of a better word) was a brick wall on all three sides overlooking my unfortunate neighbours, well had there been any other guests, it would have been! To be completely honest I then gave up, I packed up, walked the 18 miles to reception, placed my key on reception and walked out, this being the nicest part of the experience! In my opinion the hotel is just missing two letters – u and n. IF renamed the ‘Mount UN-Pleasant’ one would understand what to expect! Stay here at your own peril.
