I am a Doncaster girl born and bred so I can't fault my hometown but I can fault this hotel! Stayed here twice in recent years-its very central for nightlife and shopping but very dated and in need of a refurbishment to say the least! The rooms vary in size and standard.
The first time I stayed here my husband and I had a lovely half tester bedroom but the bathroom had mildew and mould on the tiles and the window was cracked, just as well really as it overlooked the bins at the back of the hotel. The second time we stayed the room was larger, on a lower floor which overlooked one of the main streets (noisy on a Saturday night!). The decor was horrendous! Brown wallpaper, yellow carpet, fusty old bedspread which we ended up throwing off because it smelt a bit and the bathroom was only marginally better than the last one we had.Nice bar which is called Silks and can be quite lively at the weekend. Parking at the NCP located about a two minute walk away is quite reasonable but not secure. A good hotel if you want to sample the nightlife but not so good if you intend to stay in your room for more than a quick shower and a sleep!
