Booked through bookings.com my stay was for one night to attend a friend's birthday celebrations out on the town that Saturday night.
The Regent is conveniently situated, being about 15 minutes walk from the railway station and bus station (or a short taxi ride if you don't know the way or have lots of luggage). It is also about 15 minutes walk from the racecourse, and only a few minutes walk from the the town's 'nightlife'.
Check-in was quick, friendly and efficient, and I was offered help with my bags, a wake-up call, and a newspaper in the morning (although I declined all three).
I had a single room, no.41, and if returning I would look to request the same room as it was at the end of a series of corridors and not therefore likely to suffer too badly from the noise of inconsiderate people returning to their rooms during the wee small hours that other reviewers have mentioned.
I arrived at 8pm and to be honest there was a lot of noise coming from one of the downstairs bars, but by midnight the noise had reduced considerably - no more music just some conversation which soon also died down.
I didn't have an evening meal there as I didn't have time (though I used to live in Doncaster and have eaten there previously on several occasions and enjoyed the food).
On the occasion of my visit there did seem to be a problem with breakfast service, which was supposed to be available from 0800 on the Sunday morning.
Although the cereals, fruit, and fruit juice were available at this time the tea/coffee arrived at about 0810 and the hot buffet items just after 0815. This resulted in the buffet breakfast service turning into a bit of an unseemly scrum unfortunately.
Maybe it was a one-off due to someone turning up for work late or not turning in at all, I would hope it isn't a regular problem.
In summary, I found the hotel to be clean and the staff friendly and efficient. I would stay there again if I was in Doncaster because of its convenient location for the town centre and public transport (rail/bus).
