i stayed in the newley refurbished park view bidal suite.
My boyfriend booked the room direct with the hotel he said the staff in the office were very freindly.
Upon checkin had warmest off welcomes i could tell it was going to be a plesent stay.
We opened the door to this newly refurbished room and it was fantastic you could tell that they had spent alot off money to make this room extra special.
The regent offered us a night to rember package i would defently recomend this package to anyone who' s boyfrend wants to propose to you as this made my night exta special. Just so you know i said yes.
I would like to say thankyou to everyone who made this stay extra special and gave us that special something

I stay in hotels throughout the UK every week of the year on business. I have never been to Doncaster so I used an agent to find me a hotel. I was allocated the Regent Hotel. What a disaster! This place is the worst hotel I have stayed in ever. It is located in a pleasant part of the town centre but that's it! It is accessed by an outward opening fire-door painted pillar box red. There was a distinctly unpleaseant smell in the foyer (stale beer?) and another unpleasant smell on passing the communal toilets. I was given room 4, a shoe-box situated on the ground floor and situated between 2 fire doors. I was constantly disturbed throughout the night by revellers returning to their room / trying my door by mistake! etc. The carpet in the room was so dirty I was afraid to take off my socks. In fact, I kept them on in bed just in case. The en-suite, which is painted an interesting cololur of green, was tired and dingy. However, all this pales into insignificance when compared to the food. Do not - whatever you do - eat in this place. I ordered room service - which my better judgement told me was going to be a mistake but I was starving - I was right. I had to phone and ask them to remove the 2 disgusting courses I had ordered untouched by me. They both looked as if someone else had ordered them about 5 hours earlier and they had microwaved the plate to re-heat it!! It was disgusting. Breakfast was not much better. I ordered the Yorkshire grill. It was put on the table in front of me and I thought - re-heated again! Although in fairness, I think the thick slice of greasy white fried bread might have been fresh. I walked out. But it's not all bad. The toast was well - toasted.

“Breakfast is good, office staff is very friendly, but that's about it ...”

Well, as far as I've understood this should be one of the best hotels in Doncaster.

Let me start with the good things:

-Staff is great: they really try to help. Example: They helped me carrying my heavy suitcase to the room, they put my stuff in their fridge
- Breakfast is nice and included in the room price. There's a menu where you can choose from various dishes (including fish and coldcuts) and there's a variety of cereals and juices
- Free Wireless Internet (you lose the connection sometimes, but hey, it's free)

The bad things:

- No elevator and my room was on the third floor
- No Air Conditioning (it seems there are no hotel swith airco in Doncaster or in the rest of England????). Fan was received upon request.
- Rooms are not too clean (i know i am picky, but i don't think it's normal to find long hairs in the bathtub on the day I arrived - i shave my head so they can't be mine!)
- Very very low water pressure coming out of the showerhead
- Bad Mattress - it kills your back
- Very small single rooms for 85 pounds a night (price quality is bad for this hotel)
- no Fridge in room, no Minibar in room
- one little bottle of soap and shampoo which are not being replenished daily (what do they think. that this is enough???)
- no tissues or Kleenex in room/bathroom
- cheap recycled toilet paper
- 5 basic English Channels on the TV (no international, no BBC WORLD, no CNN, no nothing)
- no fresh fruit for breakfast
- Laundry service : comes back only the next day

Decide yourself. I've been to worse hotels (Ibis for example), but not for 85 pounds a night! The problem is that I don't think there's anything better in Doncaster.

Average type of hotel. Bedrooms reasonable size with unusual but attractive colour schemes. Some only showers. TV poor choice. Main problems heat and noise. External rooms get a lot of road noise early in the morning and internal ones have constant noise from air-conditioning plant outside. Unfortunately the bedrooms are not air-conditioned and mine was uncomfortably hot.

Breakfast Ok and evening meal was better than average - gammon was excellent. Service friendly but was slow at breakfast.

I would not be rushing to go back but it is OK for an overnight stop.
