We had to travel over 200 miles to Manchester Airport for our 6am flights, it was decided to stay the night before rather than drive through the night.
I started searching for places and missed the deals on the Travelodge, the only rooms they had left were ones for £59 which are not worth it, a nicer hotel can be found for that price, so off I went searching for a hotel with or without parking, a lot of the websites don't show the marriot as taking 4 in a room for some reason so I contacted the hotel directly to book, I booked a family room with 8 days parking for £119, admittedly it worked out slight more expensive than if I had booked the Travelodge and parking but not by much, I also thought it would be nice for the children to use the pool and spa facilities at the marriot after their long car journey
Finding it was easy, when we arrived we were not sure what to do as regards to parking so we just found a space and then went to reception, it was a bit of a walk but nothing major, booking in was easy, reception looked a bit tried though, finding the room was an epic journey up and down stairs and corridors, it was signposted well and we had a map !
The room was huge, it had 2 queen beds, a sofa bed (which was already made up) and then a little day bed, even with all these beds there was still plenty of space, it had the usual nice touches such as slippers and bathroom goodies. The bathroom was spacious and did the job. The beds were really cumfy with plenty of pillow choices, it was a bit hot in the room but once the aircon kicked in it was fine.
We used the pool, finding it was again a bit of a trek, it had a steam room, plunge pool, sauna and hot tub, the pool etc was nice but the changing rooms were dirty (dirty water, hair and rubbish on the floor) and the spa receptionist was a little bit cold and unhelpful, just sort of did his job, not really what I expect from this hotel chain but it was a brief conversation that we had and it certainly was no big deal, more of an observation. The main thing was that we all chilled out for a bit before our early start the next morning. We did not take our bags down to our room as it was a real trek, the reception kept them safe for us.
We had leave the hotel at 4am and check out was easy, staff at reception very friendly and cheery, the shuttle bus was hassle free.
If you have the parking aswell then when you arrive back you have to call the hotel to let them know and they will send the shuttle bus, we did have to wait about 20 mins for it to turn up, then go to reception to exchange your parking ticket for an exit ticket, getting back onto the motorway is easy and well signposted.
Overall it was a very good experience and I would definatly recommend you stay at this hotel especially if you have kids, the rooms can easily cater for you all with space to spare.
