One word sums up the whole thing-- fantastic!
By far the best feature of the hostel is its staff. The men and women behind the front desk were ever so helpful and pleasant to talk to. If you had any problem with the room or needed help finding something in Manchester, they were there in an instant to offer their services. My plane landed at 5:30 in the morning, and I wasn't sure what exactly to do for the day. However, I was able to store my luggage at the hostel and get directions to some of the sites in the city that would open soon.
I was also very impressed with the facilities. The rooms are in fairly good order (nothing more than the usual wear and tear of time), but the furniture is solid and sturdy. The beds were so comfortable! The hostel provides internet service (for a £1 per 30 minutes fee on their computers or for free if you bring a laptop and use wireless) and has a great kitchen with free toast and jam all day.
I have very little bad to say about this hostel. The neighborhood isn't the most vibrant part of the city, but the hostel's central location means that the whole downtown area is within walking distance. My only other complaint would have to be the large number of pop-ups on the computer. Other than that, this hostel was great!
