My wife and I stayed at Les Ursulines for two nights in March 2008. The hotel has the perfect location in a beautiful setting, but there ends Ursulines' charm. We were given Room 120 (renovated and previously reviewed), which looked out over the serene courtyard. The room is compact, but size was not the problem. Our issue was the room's lack of basic comfort. The beds, linens and pillows truly reminded me of a dormitory. However, Les Ursulines is no longer a convent; it is a three-star hotel. Moreover, the Restaurant Gastronomique needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay. We were surprised to see that, on a Saturday night, the restaurant had only two other tables taken. After dining, it made complete sense. The food was highly oversalted and unimaginative. The winelist basically carried Burgundian wines of only one vigneron. Perhaps the new manager, a congenial and energetic fellow, will reinvigorate this tired, overpriced cafeteria. I can recommend neither the hotel nor the restaurant at this time.
