We stayed only one night. We had read other Tripadvisor reviews. The hotel was a good 900 metres walk out of town, but there was a free parking area for cars halfway into town which was right near a main supermarket. This supermarket has the scan your self checkout and put your own money in. Quite different but no hassle.
We are only talking of 10-15 minutes walk which we found no problem.
The hotel is like a country mansion in its own grounds, run very well by owners who can speak good English. Lots of antiques and old pictures hanging on walls, lace cloths on the little tables and piano on landing. Very clean and quiet. There was a big buffet breakfast too served in the glassed in terrace area. Easy to find on the main routes in and out of town.
Good value.
There are some very very nice restaurants in the town and we were lucky to get into Ma Cuisine, which has a wine cellar of 1500 wines. The owner spoke good English, he had been to Australia, and told us his son was currently a chef in a Melbourne restaurant. The 3 course meal and wine were very nice, not too pricey.
The shops in Beaune were stunning with their food displays. Some good quality shops there .Obviously catering for the tourist market, lots of Americans there at the time. We did the wine cellar tour and visited the museum Hopital Dieu which was well worhtwhile.
