I had read the recent reviews before our trip but when arriving in Dijon with nowhere booked, a hotel with a good Trip Advisor rating full and this hotel featuring in my Michelin guide we approached nervously ... The lady on reception, who spoke even less English than we spoke French, was very helpful and welcoming. Perhaps because we got one of the rooms she had left it was quite large - would have slept 4 and so was the bathroom. Looking at the plan of the hotel on the fire instructions confirmed we had one of the bigger rooms - thought it did contain 3 beds. I can see what other reviewers mean about it being a little frayed around the edges but because I was not expecting much I found it rather charming and you can hardly quibble at the price. We only used it as a stop-over point. You cannot fault the hotel's central location for exploring beautiful Dijon. We were on the motorbike and my husband wanted the bike parking securely so we parked in an underground car park around the corner (the lady on reception told us about it, gave us a city map and a ticket for it and it was 5 euros for 24 hours) though she said the bike would have been OK on the pavement outside the hotel. I thought the buffet style breakfast a little disappointing but it was our 2nd night in France so we had not got into the French ways of eating off a plastic tray/paper napkin.
