I stayed at the Hotel des Ducs in Dijon in summer 2003. While I thoroughly enjoyed the sights in Burgundy, I can't say that the hotel was up to mark. The receptionist was not particularly friendly nor helpful even when I was conversing in French (look, you don't normally meet a Singaporean who speaks French, do you?). The hotel was old and reeks of a strange, foul smell. But at least the rooms are adequately-sized and the bathroom looks alright. The breakfast is normal but one would expect them to do better considering the price they are charging. The location isn't all that great either. For the price you pay, you would be better off staying at the Ibis, which was not only cheaper but also more centrally located.

the hotel is well run and well situated. however, i would like to mention that the diluted milk served at breakfast when 1 orders coffee with milk does spoil the coffee. if this could be remedied, the breakfast, if it is included in the room price, is acceptable and reasonably good.

We spent a month in France. One of our favorite places was this hotel.
The location is amazing -- just steps from the Palais de Ducs. It was easy to fine. And despite the downtown location, there was underground as well as on-street parking.

The hotel is a very nice 3-star (comparable to North American chains like the Sheraton and such).

My only minor quibble is there is no pool (a rarity in small city hotels in France). If you're looking for a close in location, this is a great pick.
