FAVORITE PLACE IN FRANCE
We visited Dijon, France on our drive back to Paris from Provence. It is a beautiful city and we were disappointed we didn't have more time to spend there. We met an Australian couple who said they were "knocked out" by the city" and we had the same reaction. Very clean, beautiful architecture structure unlike any other place we had been in France, wonderful and helpful TI office and an easy to use Owl Walk which took you through the center of the city on a historical walk with a book explaining the sites. We also stayed at the Hotel Victor Hugo near the Center and were extremely happy with the nice, very clean room at a good price. We stayed in a "family room" with a double and 2 twins and one full bath for 80 Euro. They don't have a website so I found the phone number on a Trip Advisor site--no e-mail either! I wouldn't take the breakfast though as it was 6 Euro for bread, coffee and juice. The breakfast room was very nice, though, with white tablecloths, silver coffee service etc. but not worth $10 USD!! I highly recommend staying there. When we return to France, Dijon will be more of my target than Paris.
