This hotel was an easy walk to stores and restaurants. We had a ensuite Family room with a queen size bed and two twin beds. The bathroom was the smallest bathroom I have ever experienced in my life, and the tiny shower was actually comical. And, as usual, we had to lug our too heavy suitcases up a bunch of stairs....but we were used to that on this trip. For what we needed, this hotel was just fine and the front desk staff was very helpful. Great restaurant next door, L'Alliance. Cool presentation of the kebab entree (or mains, to be more accurate). Brush up on your French before you go to Amboise.

My family of four stayed here for just one night. We found it through Rick Steves' book. The location was great, staff very helpful only problem was the room size. We had a top floor room that might be fine for 2 adults and 2 small children but not for a 6 foot tall 16 year old son and our 9 year old daughter. It was very cramped and my son had to duck to get into the " bathroom". I found it all quaint and nice but my family did not see it that way. The beautiful slanted ceiling and wood beams were beautiful to me but when my husband got up during the night he smashed his head on the ceiling by the window and was not happy. Be sure to have a small person sleep near the window. Breakfast was nice but very minimal compared to other hotels we stayed in. It was good for the price.

Le Blason is conveniently located in the centre of Amboise. The exterior is glorious though it's a shame the interior renovations are not in period style. Thomas and Agnes were both friendly and helpful. We'll stay again and recommend it wholeheartedly.

“The perfect family-run hotel?”

I've stayed in lots of hotels in my time and I'm struggling to think of a nicer experience than staying at "Le Blason" in Amboise.

Where should I start?

Amboise. It's a beautiful little town that I have visited several times. It's becoming perhaps just a little too "touristy" now for my liking, but still marvellous. "Le Blason" is in a perfect situation, just a few minutes walk away from just about everything the town has to offer, but still in a quiet enough back street to be away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

The room was perfect. Recently renovated; beds atmospherically tucked in under 16th century beams; mattresses so comfy I would still be asleep now if it weren't for my insomniac toddler; a window overlooking the chateau; wonderful. If I'm being really critical, then the bathroom was small and charmless, but it was perfectly functional. What else do you want from a bathroom anyway?

The hosts were great. Maybe it's because they are a young family like ourselves, but we sensed instantly that they were simply "good people" who took a real pride in their hotel.

And breakfast! Wow!

This is a fantastic hotel at a very reasonable price. If you want to visit the Loire Valley, stay here. Simple.

Hotel Le Blason

I reserved our one night stay at Le Blason based on reviews posted here. They were not wrong, this hotel is a little gem nestled in the middle of a little, beautiful medieval town in the Loire Valley. Since we were traveling with our two daughters (teenagers), we requested a cuadruple room and were given one on the 3rd floor with a magnificent view of the castle. The hotel is only about 8 minutes walk from the castle and the restaurant and shops area. We were very impressed about how comfortable and modern the facilities were inside, since we knew the hotel is located in a building more than 100 years old. The heater worked perfectly and noticed the air conditioner on the wall for warmer months. The room was spacious, L Shaped, with two twin beds and a full bed and a small bathroom. We asked for extra towels, extra pillows and a blowdryier and received them expeditiously. The breakfast was served in a small dining area downstairs and included delicious fresh french breads, yoghurt, cereal, juice and coffee. It only cost 6.50 Euros and thought is was good. Parking is close by and free (rare in that part of the world). Overall, if we ever visit Amboise again, we will definetely stay at Le Blason.
