Just from when we ate here 2 weeks ago, the rank on TA for La Cadole has jumped all the way to #2! There is good reason why. From the central parts of Paris, it is off the beaten path a bit (edge of the 6th/7th with Montpranasse tower in view), but we were staying in a flat just 2 blocks away, so this was for sure on our list this trip! We walked over on a Wednesday evening (July 4th actually) a little after 9pm without a reservation and thankfully found it with available seating. We dined on the patio as it was the best weather day we had our entire stay this time. The owner handles the dining room while his wife holds down the kitchen.
As other reviewers have mentioned, there are 2 menus, and both sounded delicious. Actually, the less expensive menu sounded better to me, but I wanted the tart abricot, so I went with the 34 euro menu! Delicious, every course, and the apricot tart was the best dessert I had on my entire trip to Europe. I had a salad of mushroom in pastry as my entree, and fish in a ginger sauce as my main course. The bread was delicious! The owner apologized for not bringing us more bread...he told us that they make their own bread and some people come there just for the bread (therefore he likes to make sure everyone has their fill).
The menu is in French, but I overheard the owner going through each item on the menu for another table that were non-French speaking. He was very soft-spoken, asked us how we had heard of the restaurant, and he wished us and our nation a Happy Independence Day. Dinner was long and leisurely, and another walk-up couple appeared rather late but were seated without hesitation.
Interestingly, this was the only restaurant on our trip where L'addition was brought out prior to us asking for it. I am thinking that it's because we were outside and he thought it'd be easier than us having to catch his eye while he was way in the back... he brought the bill to the other outdoor table at the same time.
Overall a lovely dinner and worth the high marks from everyone!
