I tried to book this restaurant on our last trip to Paris, one of many as I regularly travel there with my partner. After seeing the brilliant reviews on trip advisor I decided to make an effort to reserve in advance to ensure a table etc. On ringing the restaurant, I eventually got through after numerous attempts and spoke to whom I can only assume to be the manager. I have a basic grasp of french and so after greeting him en francaise I asked him did he speak English. He told me no. I proceeded to attempt to book a table in French and was rudely told that they don't allow tourists to make bookings. When I enquired why, I was told that they never turn up so the restaurant are now refusing to take advance bookings. In this case I was actually ringing to try and make a booking for that night and we were staying nearby. I tried to tell him this and that we had every intention of turning up. I was point blank refused and in a very rude fashion, not in an apologetic way whatsoever. I ended up telling him that I found it very unreasonable and rude and ended the conversation on that note. Not sure I would have wanted to go anyway with a host like that. Odd then that lots of other tourists seem to have been treated well there?
