We used Marriot points to stay for two nights and liked it so much we cancelled our reservation in another Marriott and stayed for a third night at a very reasonable price, including breakfast.
Everything about this hotel was great and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paris. As other reviewers have noted, it is off the "touristy" beat and has great walking areas, is near wonderful Latin Quarter restaurants and is within a short walk of two Metro stops. It is Paris, so why not walk, and it is an easy walk to Notre Dame past the Latin Quarter, Pantheon and Sorbonne. We had a great view from our 15th floor window. It was our 30th anniversary and a bottle of champagne and a chocolate Eiffel Tower appeared in our room.
The staff at this hotel should be commended by Marriott. All of them are polite, helpful, good humoured and often interesting people who are willing to talk. The hotel has an excellent business centre with helpful staff. The breakfast express is a good idea although the full breakfast we had on the weekend was no more expensive than the express downstairs.
We did have a car and this one of the few hotels in France we visited that has a convenient place to leave the car when you check in. We were instantly met, welcomed, and the car was whisked away. When we checked out, the car appeared almost immediately. Great service.
Breakfast is outstanding as others have noted, and there is no reason to eat dinner in the hotel unless you are too tired to go out. The meals are OK but expensive compared with the surrounding neighbourhood. Rue Mouffetard, an old Roman road now filled with interesting shops and markets is a short walk away. Try charming restaurants such as La Cave Bourgogne and the Volcan (among others I'm sure) for excellent food at very reasonable prices.
Next time we are in Paris, this is where we will stay.
