I booked this hotel at priceline.com prior to reading the scary reviews. Therefore, I was a bit nervous to stay there. But luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed my stay due to the following.
1)Cheap cost - IT IS Paris at peak season. Nothing is cheap and very big in Paris that won’t cost you your life savings
2)Travel ease –Air France airport bus shuttle and the Montparnasse Station is steps away.
3)Room – My room was big by Paris standards…especially the bathroom. I loved my bathroom with had a huge tub and plenty of sink counter space….Plus, it had a view.
4)Air-conditioning – I was in Paris a few weeks prior to my stay in this hotel. Let’s just say the other hotel at almost the same price ---almost made me cry due to the lack of air conditioning and the cramped space. But my room was cool if not cold in my five day stay…I had to turn down the AC the second night.
5)Customer service – Check-in was with a very pleasant…yes, I said it ---it was a "pleasant person" who upgraded my room. I got to the room and discovered it was a king bed (a friend was meeting me the next day) therefore I requested a change. The reception area insisted I stay where I was and they quickly moved me to a double room by sending a bellman who moved my luggage and gave me my new keys...on the same floor. Mind you, French are NOT known for customer service.
6) Area - grocery next door, bakery around the corner, mall two doors down, restaurants a plenty, and the train station.
Now, I have been lucky enough to have been in Europe for 14 weeks in the past 2 1/2 years ...due to work and vacation time...I go to conference a lot in the US so I tend to stay in many nice hotels here...But I have learned not to expect American standards when I book European hotels. Meaning, I don't expect a resort, a shuttle, a coffeemaker, a whirlpool tub, or waterfalls. Plus, the euros is really kicking the $$ bum so things cost more. With that said, I enjoyed my stay due to the listed variables...And, I should note that the hotel is more American than any hotel I stayed in Paris---big lobby, a tall tower, etc....but take my experience with a grain of salt. I'm sure each experience is unique.
I wish you luck with your trip.
