I just stayed at Hotel Brescia in Paris and was very disappointed in my room. Even our very experienced tour guide warned us that it was small. This is understatement. Two people were very cramped. There are no drawers,or hooks anywhere, only one small closet with a few hangers. The bathroom was clean and modern but I have been in larger ones on a cruise ship! There is no place to put anything in the bathroom, no shelf, door hook. There is not even a place to put the soap down in the shower. The walls are very thin and the coughing from another room kept us awake, the TV did not work. The outlets were inconveniently located along the floor in the room itself so to use any kind of appliance one would need a very long cord.
There appeared to be many businessmen staying here and for one person the room could be adequate and the breakfast was pleasant enough. Climbing the stairs is the most efficient way to get to and from your room.
The front desk was okay but did not go out its way to help out. I know the rooms in Paris are all relatively small, but if you are two look elsewhere.

My husband and I had just had a fabulous barge cruise on the Litote and had one more night in Paris before coming home.
The Hotel Brescia is a bit off the beaten track in the Opera area, but for us it was perfect.
The rooms are very small, but obviously recently remodeled and very clean. My only complaint is that the t.v.'s were antiquated and there were no american news channels which was dissapointing as we had been on the barge for a week and I wanted to get news about Hurricane Katrina. The front desk was extremely helpful and even printed me directions on Map-quest when I asked directions to a certain restuarant. I'm not sure where the Parisiens get the rap as being frosty; that wasn't our experience at all. As it seems in most small hotels, the lifts (elevators) are extremely small. Just adjust to the fact that only one person with their luggage can fit.
The room keys are a bit old fashioned (clunky) so don't be suprised when they ask that you drop them at the front desk if you go out. Don't worry, there is always someone there to give it to you when you come back in.
The street was extremely quiet and the metro is only about 2 blocks away. There are some large department stores nearby. All in all it was a great place to chill at the end of our 12 day vacation.

We were expecting nothing but an OK hotel for sleeping only. It turn out to be very clean, confortable, remodelate, new furniture and a very cozy enviroment. The price us excellent and the confort, even better.

We stayed at the Hotel Brescia in March 2003 and found it to be a great place to stay (if a little bit far from the major attractions but ok if you don't mind a bit of a walk).The hotel is close to the metro and is in a quiet street in a good neighbourhood. Staff are very friendly! and we loved the breakfast.The rooms are small (which is typical for most European hotels anyway) but nicely furnished and, most importantly, clean and tidy. Overall, we were really happy with our stay (but don't try to cram more than two people with luggage into the lift!).
