“Relaxing weekend break”

Hotel de Banville

Booked the Hotel de Banville via AirMiles after good reviews. Arrived at the hotel to find that the booking had not been received! Luckily they had rooms available and the staff were very helpful in sorting this out.

We were allocated a room on the back of the hotel, which initially looked small and a little dark. However, on further inspection the furnishings were of very high quality and everything was immaculately clean. The bathroom was again small, but well furnished, with a lovely powerful shower. A quick look into other rooms while they were being cleaned showed they are all differently decorated and furnished, but of a similar size.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and you could take breakfast in your room at no extra cost - lovely!

The hotel is out of the main tourist areas, being about 15 mins walk to the Arc de Triumphe and Trocadero. However, it was peaceful and quiet, with a Metro and RER stop very close by.

Despite the initial hitch, I would highly recommend this hotel - however, I would ask for a room on the front - they were brighter.

Dear Sir, dear Madam,

Many thanks for taking time to write your comment.

I'm very pleased to read that you enjoy your stay. I'm sorry for this misunderstading upon arrival, I hope it's forgotten now.

Why won't you come and try a superior room on the front of the building for your next stay in the city.

“Honeymoon elegance with calla lily style”

In October, 2007, we spent the first night of our honeymoon in the Hotel Banville and we could not have been more pleased. The hotel lobby is lovely, our charming room (Theodore Banville) was designed to perfection, and the welcoming proprietor of this personal, boutique hotel was delightful and friendly. Our room had a beautiful custom-built vanity that divided the bed area from the bath area. Custom wood-paneling, wallpaper that matched the bedding, wrought iron balcony -- the whole ensemble made us very happy. The corner bathtub was really unusual and beautiful, positioned under a frosted picture window, transparent at the top so you could see the top of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. The bed and bedding were comfortable and overall, although small, the room conveyed a sense of old-world opulence and comfort.

We chose to stay at the Banville because of the beautiful room, pictures of which we had seen on the web page, but also because the proprietress/owner, Marianne, sings jazz and French standards in her piano bar in the lobby on Tuesday nights. Both surpassed our expectations. Marianne – who speaks English impeccably and is very friendly and nice – sings to the accompaniment of an accomplished pianist. We sipped our cocktails from our cushy seats, enjoying the unique blend of modern and traditional décor and every beautiful detail from the calla lilies in the baby grand, to the fabulous custom lighting that appears throughout the hotel. We called out some requests and got up and danced a little swing and foxtrot around the piano, which led to flash bulbs flashing and delightful applause by the "regulars" at the bar and people who worked there. Later that night, upon returning from dinner (Bistro du 17eme, very nice prix fixe including a bottle of wine for two), we found blown-up prints of us dancing left by the hotel for us on our pillow.

Breakfast in the lobby was a full assortment of pastries, fruit, cereals, cold cuts, cheese, and of course hot and cold beverages. We were more than satisfied. The staff continued to be so friendly, recalling the dancing from the evening before. We were invited to come back the next Tuesday evening, which we did – this time with some relatives who live in Paris. Everyone had a good time.

We would definitely stay again at the Banville (and we’d love to try L’appartement de Marie on the top floor!). Another reviewer says it was very expensive, but actually we were able to get a very reasonable rate (even considering the exchange rate) through our travel agent. It is a beautiful, charming, and inviting hotel, we recommend it highly.

“Everything GREAT”

Hotel de Banville

11 Feb 2008

We stayed it this hotel for 2 nights in the room "Marie", 8th floor.

Once you have accepted the generally high prices for hotels in Paris, then there is nothing negative to say about this hotel. Au contraire: it's great!
Very friendly hotel staff.
Super clean rooms.
Good food (try have breakfast in the room with view on the Eiffel tower!)
Themed rooms (every room seems to be different), great decor.
Good location (100m to the metro, 20min to the train station nord/est)

The only negative thing would be the very slow lift....but does that really matter?
Anyway, try to get a room on the upper floor, street side. And there is one room (Amélie?) which has a baclony and Tour Eiffel view for unforgettable breakfasts)

If I am in Paris again, I know where I will stay.

“A splendid stay”

Hotel de Banville

We have just returned from a 2 night stay in Paris and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We were given an extremely warm and friendly welcome on arrival and were really pleased with our room. We stayed in a superior room - and the views from the balcony were simply stunning. To our delight, we had a fantastic uninterrupted view of the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Sacre Coeur over the Parisian rooftops. The weather was fantastic and the sun streamed into the room. The room was extremely clean, quiet and comfortable and there was a fabulous roll top bath to lie back in whilst admiring the Eiffel Tower shimmering in the evening sky. Every single member of staff we met was so friendly and helpful, which in itself would encourage us to return and stay there again.
The hotel is ideally situated for both the metro and RER and we got about Paris with ease. The hotel is in a nice area and there are a great range of restaurants/shops nearby - we particularly loved the restaurant du 17eme in the Place Pereire. Overall, an extremely enjoyable stay and we were sorry to be leaving. We would recommend this hotel to absolutely everyone.

Booked this trip as a romantic getaway for the last weekend before Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Arrival at the hotel was slightly later than intended due to a 1.5 hour delay on the Eurostar and a long wait for a taxi at Gare du Nord but the welcome was extremely warm on arrival. Lift up to our room could only be described as cosy but it served it's purpose none the less. Room was beautifully and tastefully decorated and exactly what I hoped for when I initially booked the trip. Breakfast the next morning was adequate enough for us to fill up on before our exploration of the city - comprised of various pastries, cold meats & cheeses. The reception staff were extremely helpful throughout and spoke perfect English....which was very handy as my attempt at broken French was struggling to say the least!!! Didn't use the Metro but there is a stop about 100 yards away. A walk down to Champs Elysee took around 20 minutes.
