Booked our stay via otel[--] for a great rate (122Euros inc. breakfast). The rooms were nice and spacious. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The location is great as it is a short stroll to the Eiffel tower. There are 2 metro stations nearby making it easy to get to most areas in Paris, you can also catch the bateaubus on the Seine. It took us 10 minutes to get to the St Michel area, 10 minutes to Charles De Gaulle/Etoile.
Would definitely stay again as the last hotel we stayed at in Paris was very old and not half as pleasant.

Booked throught Hotwire(--) so I was quite wary on what I'll find. Was pleasantly surprised to find very clean, well-apointed, modern (I would take this anytime over 'chic' boutique hotels with old/peeling wallpapers), HUGE bathroom (for Paris standards). Bathrobe, ameniies, even a clothes dryer in the bathroom, and a new tub that you will not hesitate to take baths in! Staff (especially Alecia) is very helpful, friendly, and warm.

A little out of the way to the heart of the action but a metro stop is nearby. Supermarket, bakery, restaurants, and a park with stunning Eiffel Tower view is just around the corner. Will not hesitate to stay here again.

Was upgraded to a deluxe and managed to get free breakfast as there was a mix up at The Walt Hotel, and they moved us in here. Im glad i wasnt paying extra for the deluxe as i would have hated to have seen the standard room. Dont get me wrong our room was ok, it was clean and and modern, yet small and nothing in it to suggest why it was a deluxe!
Im also glad i did not pay for the breakfast, as it was rather expensive for a small croissant and a bowl of cereal!

Would i recommend this place? not really, im sure that in one of the most romantic cities in the world you can do alot better! having said that you could do alot worse too :)

“Nice & Very Modern”

Just spent 4 nights in "Le Marquis" and had a very nice stay. It's a clean, modern, well-situated hotel with excellent and helpful staff. We asked for restaurant recommendations several times and they came up trumps for us.

The rooms are quite small, but this is common in Paris apparently. The rooms are not as "boudoir-like" as the hotel would like you to believe. We were staying in room 304 and it looked like any hotel room in Paris (with 2 furry cushions!) The photos on their website are a little misleading. It's actually more modern than you might like.

There's a very well-stocked supermarket across the road, selling (among other things) excellent and reasonably-priced champagne (Taittinger 23euro, Laurent-Perrier 26euro). An excuse to drink more I think! There's also a wonderful boulangerie next door to the hotel. Pick up your pain-au-chocolat and eat it in the nearby park under the Eiffel Tower. Wonderful!

Nearby restaurants worth visting are Pere Claude (try the creme brulee) and Le Suffren.

I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

Be wary of cab drivers though. The front desk in the hotel told us 50-60 euro for a taxi to the airport. It actually cost of 64 euro, incredible. We queried the fact that the taxi driver already had his meter running when we got in the car. This would have been so bad if he had not used the hotel's toilet facilites while we waited in reception and our meter was running outside. We were stunned, but didn't want to cause an argument as were running short on time. The taxi driver explained that because the hotel booked the taxi by phone that morning, the passenger must pay for the cost of the driver getting to the hotel. An opportunity for ripping people off if you ask me, it was already on 10 euros by the time we got in the back seat.

(If the hotel is reading this, and the driver was doing anything untoward, the taxi number was 789)

If you can, take the train to the airport and save yourself a lot of money.

My wife and I (40-somethings), stayed at this hotel in Jan 2005 and Jan 2006. I chose this hotel because the price was not outrageous as it's not in a highly trafficked tourist area, it's near where a friend lives, it's near shopping on Rue du Commerce and a 5 minute walk from the La Motte Piquet Grenelle métro station (line 10), which is convenient for us, as we go to the Odéon station (Boulevard St-Germain) often.
There's a boulangerie on the corner and a supermarché across the street.

We had a pleasant enough stay both times, except on our most recent trip (Jan 2006), we were charged for bottle of water which we didn't consume. My wife didn't notice the charge at checkout, and after I emailed them and tried to remove it the next day, the clerk refused to reverse the charge, saying my wife approved it. We are fluent in French and quite familiar with effective culturally sensitive strategies on getting surly service people to give you what you want, but we hit a brick wall. I chose to not waste any more time over 3.5 Euros; I'll simply pick another hotel next time. We travel to Paris at least once a year, so Hotel Le Marquis can forget about any future revenues from our family!
