Our first experience in Paris was greatly impacted by this charming hotel in the 7th arrondissement. The Rue Cler is iconic Paris with a bakery literally downstairs and brasseries outside the hotel doors. My boyfriend and I walked by the Eiffel Tower everyday and the shops in the hotel's area were the best. From maccarrons to espadrilles, we bought it all! I would highly recommend staying in this area for Paris.
The hotel recently was awarded a 3 star rating and I would agree. Although compact, they were sufficient for our stay in Paris. The bathrooms are modern and room extremely tidy (even the water glasses didn't need cleaning before using them). Our room was not facing the courtyard however and we were there during an unseasonably warm time. (We were told it rained for two months straight before we arrived). The hotel doesn't have air conditioning and it was difficult to get a breeze in the room- my boyfriend was up all night because of a loud snorer in the buidling next door.
However, the price cannot be beat and the location amazing. This was one of our few Rick Steves recommendations during our trip and well worth the effort to reserve well in advance! Also, right around the corner from many Yelp and Rick Steves recommended restaurants. Our favorite- Les Cocottes you MUST go!!!
