“Perfect!”

La Guriniere

I stayed at La Guriniere for 3 nights in July with my two daughters, age 16 and 13 and we loved it. The room was very pretty and "french" and spotlessly clean. Micheline was lovely, very, very helpful and the breakfast was delicious, croissants, bread, juice and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble. We only met her husband once; but he seemed very nice. We were advised to take the Air France bus number 13 outside CdG airport to Gare Montparnesse, which was very busy. From here you get on the Metro line 13 in the direction CHATILLON MONTROUGE and leave it after 5 stations at MALAKOFF PLATEAU de VANVES. From Malakoff there is a short walk to La Guriniere.

As we arrived early, Micheline let us leave our luggage (even though she was very busy cleaning the room) and gave us a metro map and directions to the "sights of Paris". The metro is an excellent way of getting around and you never have to wait more than a couple of minutes. We saw the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe; took the Batobus trip down the Seine and spent a lovely afternoon in the Latin quarter and visited the Sacre Coeur (my favourite spot!).

On Saturday evening we walked up the Champs Elysee and stopped to eat. We checked the menu prices for a pasta dish and it seemed reasonable. BEWARE!!!! The menu prices for drinks are not displayed. I was charged 39 Euros for 2 "medium sized" glasses of lemonade and a small glass of wine. WHAT A RIP-OFF!!! When I queried this with the waiter, who was rushed off his feet, he apologised and said the drinks are usually more expensive than the food! If you look at the menu (in small print at the bottom!) you MUST order a drink when purchasing food. It's sad really that they have to treat tourists like this. They are already making a massive profit, it's just pure greed.

Any way, it didn't spoil our trip it was wonderful. Just make sure you don't get ripped off and take some comfortable shoes, it's a big city. As for La Guriniere, it's PERFECT! I would recommend it to anyone and would love to go back.

La Guriniere

La Guriniere
Date: July 2007
Reviewer: Cari & Christian , Windsor, Canada

We have been meaning to write this review for a year now, but it's funny how life gets so busy. My wife and I stayed at La Guriniere for four days in late July 2007. We had checked out trip adviser reviews before booking directly with Micheline, and thought the reviews were very good. Little did we know how amazing this little gem would be.
We arrived at the airport and took a transfer Air France bus to the train depot where we caught the Metro to Malakoff suburb of Paris. The Metro ride was very easy and fast not more than 12 minutes. Upon arriving in this quaint town, a resident couple saw us looking at a map trying to figure out exactly where it was we were to go. The lovely French couple politely asked if they could help us with something. We communicated to them that we were staying at La Guriniere and this couple who were on their way into the metro train, took the time to walk us staight to the front gate. Then they cheerfully said "enjoy France' and hugged us. Wow what a reception!
Upon ringing the buzzer, we were warmly greeted by Micheline. She then showed us where we would be staying. The room was everything we could have wanted and much nicer than any picture could show. The bathroom was very clean and modern and practical. Every morning we would be greeted with a warm French breakfast to start off our day (freshly baked that morning).
Micheline would be around to answer any questions we might have about our travel plans for the day. She and her husband Jean Paul, did spend alot of time helping us plan our site seeing, which saved us tons of time wandering around Paris aimlessly. Travel to all the major sites in Paris was very easy and less than 20 mins travel time. The Metro subway is super efficient compared to the tube in London or anything we have here in North America.
The hospitality and generosity given to us by Micheline and Jean Paul was second to none! Our honeymoon in France started at their beautiful bed and breakfast and we could never have imagined staying in such a wonderful place and meeting such nice people.

Loved La Guriniere and will stay there again. We (my wife, Brother, and I) spent 8 days at La Guriniere while sightseeing and vacationing in Paris. The place is pretty remarkable. The rooms are large, clean, quiet and sunny (shutters for sleeping). The breakfast was great and the owner, Micheline, comes every morning with hot coffee, warm croissants, a baguette, and juice. She and her husband Jean-Paul are very nice and live next door ina separate home. Micheline helped us with recommendations which improved the quality of our stay enormously. One of her local Malakoff recommendations is il Pomodoro, an Italian restaurant, and it was wonderful and inexpensive. The B&B is located within zones 1 and 2 of paris and very near a metro station. We purchased the visit paris 5 day metro pass (and another 2 day) which allows unlimited use of the metro. We went into central paris twice a day, once to see the sights and another time in the evening for dinner. I would recommend this place to everyone whether you are looking for a bargain or just looking for a comfortable, high quality, and pleasant place to stay while visiting paris. Did I mention that the shower was awesome as well. Great outdoor garden too! This is the best B&B I have ever stayed out.

My wife and I recently stayed here for 4 nights. We really enjoyed this B&B. Micheline is very kind and was accommodating to us. Her pastries each morning were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable.

The location is fine and it is an easy trip to most sites (10-15 minutes).

If you are "B&B people" and like the personal touches of a B&B I would recommend this place.

Well, I write this review with mixed feelings.

We were on a European Vacation from Australia, two adults and two boys aged 3 and 4.

First, the location in a lovely suburb of Paris is the best.

10 minutes from Paris on the train

We found a great Bar/Restaurant 2 minutes from La Guriniere near the Town Square(Les Sports) ,fantastic, genuine people.

The room we had was lovely, with a loft bedroom for the boys.

All very nice ,clean and cosy.

Breakfast was delicious with bread, croissants, jams.coffee, hot chocolate etc.

But!!

I had arranged some months earlier that we would arrive prior to normal check in time, leave our bags,go out for a few hours and return after 3:00pm for official check in.

And we did, returning after 3:00pm to find Madam in a confused state.

Beds still unmade, turmoil everywhere, more guests to arrive and on it went.

It only got worse, when for the next two nights we lay in our bed listening to Madam going on about us and our enfants to two guests from the UK,even a subtle turn of our door handle did not stop the tales.

Oh well, mais bon, we shall not darken those doors again with pesky kids!!
