It is 10 years since "Amelie" was released, but there is no sign that affection for this wonderful film is waning. Numerous tourists (including us!) are still flocking to dine in Amelie's cafe, and to photograph its rosy, kitch interior.
The cafe deals with its fame well - there is a poster of Amelie on the back wall and there are Amelie-inspired placemats, but they don't overplay the film link. Prices are reasonable and the waiters are good-humoured and friendly.
Best time to visit is for breakfast in the morning. At 8.30 we were the only non-locals in the place; the cafe was not crowded at all (unlike at lunchtimes!). The breakfast was good -fresh bread, croissants, pain chocolat, coffee and orange juice, and the price was lower than at several other cafes along the rue des Abbesses.
