This hotel is the worst place I have ever stayed. It was dirty and dingy. We had booked in for two nights (via the internet) subject to glowing reviews. I was appalled at the place. the rooms were dirty and the hotel itself hasn't been renovated / painted / cleaned properly in who knows how long. If you don't like that feeling that you are not happy resting your head on the pillow - this was an example of it. The bathroom was a disgrace. The tiles were glassy and when the shower was turned on, water sprouted sideways across the room to the wall. We had to put towels on the floor to avoid slipping. The next morning after night one, we promptly booked out vocally indicating our distaste at the place which in fairness was accepted without fuss. Bite the bullet and stay in the old city of carcasonne if you can.

Other reviews seem to be talking about another hotel of the same name! I do not recognise the comments about being clean - we were unable to stay in our room as it did not appear to have been cleaned at all, other than making the bed and a light dusting. The shower room was really unpleasantly dirty. No other rooms were available and no offer of cleaning was forthcoming, so we had no alternative but to leave (having paid up front) and pay for another hotel - same price, but clean and ready for guests. Any claims that this hotel has been refurbished were not at all apparent.

“Give it a miss...you'll be glad you did”

We stayed at the Bristol in July '05 and were disappointed to say the least.
For a start, we had booked through a site called "Planigo" which quoted us 75 euros for a triple room without breakfast.
When we arrived the hotel informed us that no booking had been made on our behalf by Planigo. They managed to fit us in anywayat 85 euro.
The hotel describes itself as a totally refurbished, 3 star hotel with air conditioned rooms....NO rooms have aircon, only the restaurant.
The rooms were stifling , we were unable to sleep.
The hotel says it has a bar...true, but it's only open at lunchtime.
The breakfast at 9 euro is not worth the money...go around the corner and eat in a cafe for 5 euro.
The best that can be said for the hotel is that it is clean and quiet (eerily quiet).
The Terminus next door looks a much better bet for a similar price.

“Very decent lodgings”

I arrived in Carcassonne by train without a hotel reservation. It was raining slightly so the Bristol across the street from the station looked like a logical place to stay. As this was in mid April, the town was not at full as it evidently is during summer.

After waiting for the rain to let up somewhat, I walked up to La Cité, a very impressive sight. It must be a zoo in the summer, however.

After a nice dinner with wine at Chez Fred, I retired to my quarters at the Bristol, which were fine for one night. The elevator wasn't working so I had to lug my bags up the stairs.

This hotel goes back many years and was once a lodging place for voyagers and their horses that traveled on the canal, which is still there though not used. For 70 Euros including breakfast I will not complain. Do not expect luxury but the Bristol is a clean, comfortable place to lay down ones head. I do not know where the Arcantis name comes from as it was not in evidence during my recent stay.
