This hotel is some kilometers outside of Nimes and should only be considered if travelling by car. That said, it is a great place if you have a car. First, there is lots of free parking. Second, it is in the countryside and very quiet. Thirdly, it is in a picturesque building which has been renovated in a very tasteful way. Fourthly, it's pretty cheap. I was a single traveler but got a room with a double bed. The room had an interesting decoration although the furniture was simple. There were small cakes awaiting me in the room and the soap provided had an Asian theme and emphasized well-being. The room was quiet. My only problem was a toilette which didn't seem to flush right. The breakfast, which cost extra, was a very nice continental style. The French bread and coissant where very fresh and crispy/crunchy. A whole carafe of orange juice was provided. The fruit preserves were also very nice as was the service. I only stayed there one night but was very pleasantly surprised.

“Great place, a bit far out!”

Hotel Le Pre Galoffre

26 Jul 2007

A lovely hotel - we stayed in a ground floor room with a little terrace, which was great. Service was impeccable and as has been mentioned before, the building and decor were lovely too.

Words of warning: it is a little far frrom the town centre, and not in an area that you might expect to find a hotel - make sure you have a clear map! Also, we thought we had booked breakfast included and were a little shocked to have the price of the - admittedly lovely - breakfast added at the end.

“Great hotel, great location”

Have just spent a week at Le Pre Galoffre, about 10 minutes drive from Nimes Garons Airport.
The buildings are beautifully renovated stone set at the end of an avenue of trees with plenty of car parking just outside of NImes. Rooms are pleasant and nicely decorated, but despite what the website says, take your own toiletries. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the smaller of the 2 swimming pools and is delicious. Fresh bread and croissants, ham and cheese, fresh fruit and yogurt, cereals, cake, orange juice and honey and home made jams. And all for 8 euros. A set evening meal is available, although numbers are limited due to lack of space, but the food is excellent and the attention to detail (fresh flowers every evening) superb. The hosts and all the staff we met could not do enough for us.
Being on the south side of Nimes, the hotel is well placed for touring the region without having to fight your way through the traffic of Nimes itself. The Camargue coast is less than an hour away and the towns of Avignon and Orange and the Pont du Gard are really worth visiting.

“Warning ref location”

We have recently returned from Nimes and thought we should offer a warning to travellers regarding transport to and from the hotel and airport. When we arrived at the airport there were no taxis available. If you wish to order a taxi please bear in mind that the taxi will charge you from their starting point in Nimes centre which is about 10k away. Fare will cost around 35euros. This hotel is a good 20 minute taxi journey from the airport and again from and to the town centre. For those who want to be close to the city this hotel is a no-no. Buses to and from nimes centre stop at 9pm. Also bear in mind that you cannot get a bus straight to or from the hotel to the airport. You will have to get a bus into town first. A hire car is a must for those staying at this hotel. Although the hotel is quite cheap it is worth spending extra on another hotel closer to the town to save money on transport costs. Breakfast is not included in the price although we were led to believe it was. The hotel had a strong smell of sewage during out stay and the carpets were damp.

“Super staff, but maybe avoid saturday nights in summer!”

Stayed here for a saturday night during a tour of the area in August.
General observations were that the Hotel is in a lovely old characterful building, and the public areas especially are very nicely decorated. Also the staff/ owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful - definitely 5* service. The swimming pool / breakfast terrace area was very pretty too.

The room we had was a little bit disappointing (see photo), we'd asked for a double and got a twin, and the bathroom had an interesting view of unfinished wall under the basin when you were in the bath. From the other reviews, i guess we were just unlucky with the room.

But. The night we were there, there was a large wedding party going on in the hotel complex. This meant that we couldn't get parked when we arrived, there was only a single-choice set menu available on the outside terrace for dinner (i suspect because the restaurant was being used by the wedding party) and i was kept awake "enjoying" the bass beat from their music until the early hours, so had a rubbish night's sleep - especially disappointing in view of the tranquil rural location. i wished we'd just stayed in central Nimes where we could have had more choice of restaurants etc. However, without the wedding factor it would have been a pleasant, reasonably priced place to stay.
