Stayed for 2 nights in a superior room at the front of the hotel with a large balcony overlooking the Place de la Resistance. Having hired a car at Limoges airport (very quick and easy process) we drove into Limoges with the aid of a GPS which certainly made it easier to locate the Hotel. There is a massive carpark underneath the Place de la Resistance with direct access into the Hotel lobby - and as a previous reveiwer has noted the car park is closed on a Sunday so the only way out is via the Hotel, all the other entrances to the car park being firmly locked.
The Hotel is clean and bright and the room was large and airy. The mini bar was only half full but other than that I have no complaints. Breakfast was served in a dining room adjacent to the lobby and there was a large selection of cereals, breads, cheeses, meats etc to choose from. Regrettably the scrambled egg on offer was the usual overcooked hotel variety but that apart everything was fresh and the staff made sure stocks were constantly replenished.
The Hotel is very well situated and within an easy walk of the older more attractive part of town and Limoges itself is also a convenient centre for touring the surrounding countryside.
Surprisingly we found that that there was not as much English speaking as we had expected, with even the Hotel receptionists having only a rudimentary grasp of English. The food in the local restaurants we also found to be very French with little obvious concession to the tastes of the English tourists. I do not say that as a critisism of Limoges, indeed quite the opposite - I just make the point that you may have to try a little harder to speak the language and to be more adventurous in youtr eating habits.
There does not seem to be a huge amount of choice when it comes to accommodation in Limoges but the Royal Limousin was a pleasant and relaxing place to stay for a couple of days.
The photograph shows the view from the balcony across the Place on a somewhat rainy August day. It is a shame that the Monoprix dominates the square but it does look a whole lot better when the sun is shining!

We’re just back from a pleasant weekend in Limoges. There are no trains or busses from the Airport so you need to get a taxi or car hire. We found Limoges straight from the airport but found the hotel very hard to find.

Limoges overall we were very surprised at, we were not expecting it to be such a large town. Bars and café’s on every corner and choice that would suit everyone. The overall service we found to be disappointing, even though we did have some basic French, we still were left to wait much longer then the locals to be served in some places, but then other’s we found most pleasant.

The hotel is in a great location (when you find it) overlooking the square, try get a room in the front of the hotel with a balcony, (unfortunately we did not). Our room was basic but clean, they seam to be in the middle of painting/refurbishing the hotel alto we did not actually see any workmen, we could smell fresh paint.

The staff in the Hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was sufficient I guess, we were not brave enough to attempt the cooked sausages! But plenty of fresh bread, cheese, meat and fruit available.

Overall we were happy with the hotel, a standard 3*, the staff were nice and im sure the refurb when finished will add a lot to the rooms, they are in need of some freshening up.

One point to note tho, when we were there we parked our car in the underneath car park which we accessed from the street. This closes on Sunday which we did not know and panicked when we needed to get to the airport!!! However unknown to us there is a link from the Hotel and you can get out, just make sure you have your ticket!!

We arrived late in the day, it was raining. Bit concerned about the youths roaming around the streets, but it was sunday night and they were generally well behaved.
The hotel itself was very clean, except, oddly for the mini0bar which frankly stunk to high heaven. the staff were friend and spoke good English. The room I had was equipped with a phone socket for modem use and the triple room had a seperate area for our daughter. It was almost like 2 rooms together. Comfortable night and we nearly overslept due to the excellent double glazing and electric roller shutters. Bathroom could have been better. What do the French have against shower curtains? Seperate toilet.
Breakfast, very good spread for a continental. Boil your own egg machine etc. Still I miss egg and bacon. Which was actually available, but a little look under the lid put paid to that idea. Streaky.... yeeuch.
Still I would stay again if I had the misfortune to be in Limoges.
