Hotel la Residence is a small comfortable clean hotel, with very helpful staff, notwithstanding limited English, which with our poor French, led to some interesting conversations, however we all managed.
Bd Jean-Jaures, is a main street leading into town, and unfortunately, as other contributors have mentioned, has no immediate restaurants, which therefore involve a 15/20 minute walk into the city centre. The tram does stop nearby but it appeared that only bookings of 8 journeys was the minimum fare, which unless a long stay, is uneconomical.
The rooms of the hotel are small, we had room 30, which in the Summer would be unbearably hot, as you would require the window open, which in turn overlooked the street, which has constant traffic noise. A rear facing room must be the best option.
The breakfast can only be described as disappointing, there is no change or alternatives from what is presented, and after three days, it became boring behond belief. It is not good value,
