Having read about the antique furnishings we were a little dissapointed. We had a room in a newer wing (with and elevator) with furnishings more typical of a newer mid grade 3 star hotel which this is, but the room was also larger, more like what we would expect in North America than Europe. The bathroom was clean and up to date, and there was lots of hot water. The receptionist spoke excellent English, probably better than mine, and was quite polite and efficient. We looked around town for an alternative restaurant for dinner, but decided to just stay in the hotel, and were glad we did. The food was great and the 3-course dinner for two with a bottle of wine, Hors d’Oeuvres and chocolates was just 90 Euros. The following evening we enjoyed a drink in the bar and the Stephen, the chef, took the time to explain his offerings of Calvados. Parking was tight, but many city center hotels do not have any, and there is a public lot across the street
