When we went there the place was packed and so we were quite happy to find a small table outside, which is nicer than inside, where there is a more "tourist factory" atmosphere. Although the "terrasse" is very close to the main road, this wasn't too much of a problem as the traffic is very slow there. There are also some trees for the shade.
Because the restaurant was literally full, the waiters were all running left right and centre and it was quite hard to get their attention. At first it was fine as we could order quickly and our starters arrived a just few minutes afterwards, but our mains were somehow delayed (~30 minutes!) and on top of it, there was a mistake ("moules marinières" instead of "moules à la crème"). When we asked the waiter about it, he denied there was a mistake, probably because he was sure he passed the order correctly; however we were pretty sure the mistake took part in the kitchen, but that's actually hard to argue (although if there was no mistake from the kitchen, the main was then simply not good enough).
Apart from this, the food was good, which was a nice surprise in such a touristy location. You also had the feeling that the chef tried to make an effort, with nicer presentation (especially the desserts). The 17.80 € menu is nice enough and just about value for money (the more expensive menus did not seem worthwhile): the skate was good and the chips were very good, so was the crème brûlée. Obviously, I also recommend the "Pommeau de Normandie" as "apéro" (4.20 €). The house wine was OK too.
On the other side, the moules were not really tasty, but that might also be because we were disappointed for not having had what we ordered (see above); although I usually recognise good moules when I see them, and I didn't see much there. Having said that, we didn't get food poisoning and the whole restaurant did seem very clean, so maybe they just overcooked the moules.
Overall, if you are in Honfleur but do not want to risk it on the "Quai", this is a pleasant alternative with good food (overall) and OK price for the area.
