Situated in a very leafy, posh area of town, the house, gravel driveway and gardens look very attractive. Unfortunately, there are 14 steps up to reception then three more once inside - not ideal when carrying two heavy bags each. Our hearts sank as we were told our room was up yet more stairs but the pleasant owner kindly changed our double room for a triple one on the ground floor. Room was very clean, had nice high ceilings and the lighting was very good, but seemed very bare and charmless and quite sparsely furnished. Rather an old, basic wardrobe, two hard chairs and a tiny desk. Nowhere to put our stuff but fortunately the spare bed came in handy for this. Separate toilet was OK. A very smart new shower and washbasin, with good quality towels seemed out of keeping with the rest of the place. Bed was quite small so not the most comfortable but we didn't sleep too badly. I suppose, for the price, it was OK, although I suspect the room originally earmarked for us would have been somewhat smaller, in which case we would have been less satisfied. We had to set off early next morning before breakfast and the friendly lady owner greeted us and sent us off with a cheery smile.
