We stayed in Arles as part of a month long bike trip round Europe. The Cheval Blanc was chosen as we couldn't get into the other hotels we'd shortlisted within our price range. I still think it was slightly expensive, but did a great job for us.
It's well located on a main road just next to the old town - despite that, we had no noise and slept well. It's very easy and quick to walk to the old town - not a problem at all. We were welcomed by a really lovely lady who made us incredibly welcome, and, in the morning, as we loaded the bikes, made us feel like brave, hardy Tour de France riders, which was appreciated.
Our room was a good size with a decent bathroom. It was simple but clean and we had no complaints at all.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on that.
I think that if we go to Arles again, we'd try and stay somewhere a bit nicer, the Calendal looked wonderful, but we were perfectly happy with our stay at the Cheval Blanc and have no qualms about recommending it as a simple, straightforward hotel.
