“Alright - but nothing special”

Quality Hotel Embassy Cannes

Spent four nights at the Embassy last November (2006) as I was attending a Conference in Cannes. Rooms elsewhere appeared to be fully booked so managed to get space at this location.

Room was clean but fairly basic and quite small - nothing elaborate or too modern but functional. Décor a bit flowery and not to my taste but bed reasonably comfortable.

Quiet location - room overlooked street (and other properties) but was always quiet. Reasonably accessible to centre of town and Promenade (less than 5 mins) but it was about a 15 min walk to Conference Centre and Old Town. No corridor noise or bother from other hotel guests.

Friendly and helpful reception. However, was charged separately for breakfast - even though I didn't partake: if I had been staying for leisure I would have queried this.

Thought the stylishness of the area would have rubbed off in this hotel. Not so - although it is clean and acceptable - it is a little worn and very dated and could do with updating. Also, not much by way of eating establishments remain open in the evening in November in this part of town - and room service was limited.

Reasonable enough hotel for a short stay - but had I been travelling for a weekend break with my wife I think I would have been left somewhat disappointed.

Would try to stay elsewhere next time.

My daughter and I booked the hotel, a bit by default as it was the only place available - in a reasonnable range price - for our dates. As soon as we arrived, the gentleman in charge of the reception - who seems to be there every night - was very friendly and helped us out with the baggages. The hotel parking being full, we were redirected to a close and very convenient public parking (about 20 Euros a night). From then on it all went smoothly. Rooms are great. I recommend higher floor if you want to have a bit of a view! Bathrooms are modern, clean and all fixtures worked properly. Breakfast is delicious with plenty of rolls, jam and butter! The location of the hotel - while in the middle of town - is quiet and very close to the Croisette - we walked to it very often taking about 7 minutes - easy going! In house internet never worked for us (no one was ever really able to help us clearly with connecting to it ...) but the Wi-Fi cards available made it all easy... (10 Euros for 2 hours connection)just make sure your computer is Wi-Fi... The Pool/Jacuzzi at the top of the building was small but clean - a bit cold - but nice and the area around it was certainly appropriate for guest to sunbathe quietly. Flat Screen TV was OK - no movie channels - A safe is installed in the room - very spacious room at least for the one we had - Overall a great experience and I have already recommended the place to many of our friends. If you try it and have any comments please let me know as I really plan to return there again this winter. PS: our last night we had a great diner just around the corner - cannot remember the name of the restaurant - ... you cannot miss it!

“A truly nice hotel in a great location. Now a 4-star hotel.”

Quality Hotel Embassy Cannes

This hotel is now rated as a 4-star hotel. My wife and I spent three nights here and found everything very nice. Our room was quite large, especially considering it had two single beds, a sitting area, a refrigerator, two built-in luggage racks, combination work-area with dresser, and an enclosed closet. Our room was very clean and both of our beds were excellent. Our room also included a new flat-screen TV and both CNN and BBC stations in English. The size of our bath area was adequate, very clean, and beautifully tiled. Based on diagrams of rooms posted in the lobby, our room appeared to be about the same size as most other rooms. A previous Trip Advisor writer said his room was small, and the reception clerk confirmed that a few rooms are small, but told us they are used as singles for one person.

The reception area is large, very modern, and includes a sitting area. A bar with TV and pool table are located just off the lobby. All of the staff were very pleasant and very accomodating. The hotel garage parking is very limited and the cost is now 16 Euros per day. But being a city hotel, other parking choices are limited. The rooftop area is very nice for sunbathing and there is also a very small pool, like a soaking pool. The hotel also has a lovely outdoor courtyard on the main level with tables and chairs, umbrellas, flower beds and a fish pond with fish.

The hotel restaurant served only breakfast during our stay, and room service is also available for breakfast. We did not use either one. For dinner, there are several very nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Fontana Lamy, just 1/2 block from the hotel, was excellent. So was Le Gallia, serving a variety of Italian dishes, including very good pizzas.

As previous Trip Advisor writers said, the location is excellent. The hotel is on a very quiet one-way street, just one short block from the elegant Rue d'Antibes shopping street, and just 3 blocks (5 minute walk) from the beach. Although the hotel's 4-star rating does not equate to a 4-star hotel in the U.S., it is truly very nice. And being not directly on the Rue d'Antibes, rates are more reasonable, making the hotel a good value. We very definitely would stay here again.

“Not all rooms are renovated”

Most of this property's rooms are renovated, but a few small rooms are not: I was unlucky to get one of those (room numbers ending with "16"). Although the room was clean, it was cramped and the wall-to-wall carpet was an eye-sore. Air conditioning was not working properly which is no fun in August. Location is good and the hotel is quiet. However, be sure not to get one of those small, hot rooms.

Overall a good hotel. For EUR65 per room/night, it was really a great deal. The room was spacious enough for 3 and the bathroom was reasonable size by french hotel standard. Room was clean and has nice furnishing. Quiet location and very nearby to rue antibes (2 minutes walk), croissete and beach (5 minutes walk). Room facilities were not much, money operated minibar is available in each floor not in the room.
Very nice sunbathing deck on the rooftop but the swimming pool was very small. But the plus is that it was hardly occupied probably it was too small and everybody prefers the sea. Most of the time we have the pool only for us.
