“A truly nice hotel in a great location. Now a 4-star hotel.”
This hotel is now rated as a 4-star hotel. My wife and I spent three nights here and found everything very nice. Our room was quite large, especially considering it had two single beds, a sitting area, a refrigerator, two built-in luggage racks, combination work-area with dresser, and an enclosed closet. Our room was very clean and both of our beds were excellent. Our room also included a new flat-screen TV and both CNN and BBC stations in English. The size of our bath area was adequate, very clean, and beautifully tiled. Based on diagrams of rooms posted in the lobby, our room appeared to be about the same size as most other rooms. A previous Trip Advisor writer said his room was small, and the reception clerk confirmed that a few rooms are small, but told us they are used as singles for one person.
The reception area is large, very modern, and includes a sitting area. A bar with TV and pool table are located just off the lobby. All of the staff were very pleasant and very accomodating. The hotel garage parking is very limited and the cost is now 16 Euros per day. But being a city hotel, other parking choices are limited. The rooftop area is very nice for sunbathing and there is also a very small pool, like a soaking pool. The hotel also has a lovely outdoor courtyard on the main level with tables and chairs, umbrellas, flower beds and a fish pond with fish.
The hotel restaurant served only breakfast during our stay, and room service is also available for breakfast. We did not use either one. For dinner, there are several very nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Fontana Lamy, just 1/2 block from the hotel, was excellent. So was Le Gallia, serving a variety of Italian dishes, including very good pizzas.
As previous Trip Advisor writers said, the location is excellent. The hotel is on a very quiet one-way street, just one short block from the elegant Rue d'Antibes shopping street, and just 3 blocks (5 minute walk) from the beach. Although the hotel's 4-star rating does not equate to a 4-star hotel in the U.S., it is truly very nice. And being not directly on the Rue d'Antibes, rates are more reasonable, making the hotel a good value. We very definitely would stay here again.
