We stayed for 2 nights and were very happy with our choice. We were mainly looking for somewhere reasonably priced to visit Monaco/Nice. This hotel was perfect for that. We were in Room 15 (sea view), very comfortable. Our only negative is that we are fresh air fanatics and because Room 15 is on the first floor (and considered easily accessible by management/security) we were required to have the metal shutters down over the windows/french doors during the night. These do allow air flow, but we felt like we were in prison. Next time, I would ask for a room higher up.
Front staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent and served on the front terrace by efficient, friendly ladies. The hotel does have a restaurant, but we ended up eating both nights at the restaurant on the corner - friendly staff, good food and well priced.
Some other reviewers have mentioned that it was a less than 10 minute walk from the train station. I would say it was at least a 10 minute walk and when it is pouring with rain (as it was when we arrived), was not a particularly pleasant experience with suitcases in tow.

Very comfortable and attractive family-run hotel right on the seafront promenade. Rooms are modern and well laid out. Although a busy road runs in front of the hotel, it's fairly quiet at night. Ask for a room on the upper floors -- from the 6th floor you only see the sea and the porch is open to the sky. The cost of a sea view room is worth it. The breakfast is nice and staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the centre, but a nice walk along the sea or a shopping street. Non-Euros beware of the underground garage, which is tight and has a very steep entry ramp.

It's an easy drive to Cap Martin and Monaco. Be sure to take the walking trail round Cap Martin!

Returned yesterday from Menton where we stayed for 4 days. Booked room with a sea view which was a good choice because the "mountain views" are at the back of the hotel and whilst you can see the mountains... it overhangs the road.. Our room (15) was clean, with excellent aircon - and large enough for us to feel it was value for money at £350 for 4 nights excluding breakfast (10eu per day per person).

The Hotel is on the front and the road is quite busy so its not exactly quite even with the double glazed doors shut - we found it OK though.

Hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the station and easy to find (we returned back to Nice airport on the Express Bus which you catch opposite the hotel and takes you to the terminal at a cost of 18eu each (some people did have tickets in advance which may be cheaper??)

Re breakfast there is a patisserie minutes from the hotel in the Menton direction where an addictive selection of croissants etc at around 1eu which meant breakfast in the hotel was skipped each day - it did look nice though.

The staff of the hotel could not have been better, all spoke English and seemingly several other languages and were quite happy to provide us with the room key even if I kept asked for room 50 in my best schoolboy French.

Hotel also offer a free beech towel service which we used.

All in all an excellent break - the restaurant to avoid is called Le Stanley, in the square closest to the sea on the left hand side of the square from the bottom - looked great but when we asked for a translation of 4 items (we spoke enough French to understand the other 20..) all the staff lost interest, kept us waiting, pretended not to hear or understand us - it was a total disgrace, my wife was almost in tears - worst eating experience ever in any country. Hope you get the message. Avoid at all costs if you are British - the German family next to us were served OK even though they asked similar questions. They were embaresed for us.

My wife and I chose this hotel on the strength of Trip Advisor comments; we went to Menton for our 20th wedding anniversary and stayed four nights. The staff were unfailingly helpful, polite and, joy, able to speak good English! The hotel is very clean and our "side sea view" room gave us a good view of the sea and mountains. The room was well appointed and comfortable with a huge range of TV channels available. Breakfast was good value, served in the very pleasant lobby/terrace area of the hotel.
The railway station was less than a ten minute walk away and the town centre is nearby. There's a good bakers just over the road!
I'm a fussy user of hotels but I couldn't find fault in any way with the Princess and Richmond and recommend it without hesitation; the staff and the venue make this a number one choice.

“Warm Reception in Menton”

We were thrilled with the warm welcome at the Hotel Princess & Richmond in Menton, France. Jean-Marc, at the reception desk, was friendly and kind and helpful. He got our whole stay in France off to a good start.
The rooms and bathrooms en-suite were spotlessly clean and well decorated, and the view from our balconies was fabulous. The little rooftop garden with a cool spa was a great place to lounge and look over the Mediterranean.
The hotel is furnished in good taste, is well-located to explore the French Riviera, the Maritime Alps, and Italy. From our balcony, we could see the lights of the French Riviera to the right, and the lights of Italy to the left.

We were thrilled with the reasonable price, also. I would recommend this hotel very highly, and will definitely stay there again.
