We have stayed at many Radissons & some are less than perfect, but this property does not disappoint. The location is stunning, right on the Englishman's Promenade & therefore on the beach looking over the sea. Nice, downtown, is a 25 minute walk, but the Hotel does run a courtesy coach every hour to and from the central square during the day. Taxis are a bit of a drama, again there are few enough to cope with the demands of the tourist trade & the weekend. The Hotel is totally refurbished with the usual quirky Radisson bedroom colours dark red & light blue, although a giant plastic chilli on the wall of the bedrooms does look a tad strange! However the rooms are beautiful & the bathrooms very modern with Anne Semonin luxury toiletries...gorgeous! Breakfast is the usual Radisson Super Buffet & is one of the best we have seen, also an outside breakfast terrace is beautiful if the sun is shining. The only little gripe is about the Rooftop Terrace ( top floor, pool, bar, restaurant) . Even if you are a Resident of the Hotel, you get charged for using the sunbeds at the pool, I believe it to be 17 to 25 Euros depending on the time of day. Anyway, all in all, a very good Hotel, good service & a great location. Pity about the very poor Euro exchange rate with the Pound!

“Bad Value”

Radisson SAS Hotel Nice

23 May 2008

just back from a lovely holiday in Nice and the stay at the Radisson was supposed to be a treat for our last night. On arrival was briskly checked in without even a smile, room was lovely but felt like i couldnt touch anything in case they tried to charge me for it! Was not charged for the pool and got shuttle into town with the nicest most helpful driver however it is a LONG walk home. Was under the impression from the hotel website that breakfast was included in my rate but found out was not. Again checked out without so much as a thank you and sent on our way. Nice room but thats about all it has going for it and not worth the money at all. Will not stay with any radisson hotels again.

Hotel was nice and clean, room view was excellent! As many others have stated it's a long walk to the main town and the shuttle bus service is limited.

the most dissapointing thing about this hotel was the extorted prices they charge for everything. A cup of coffee was 8 Euro and breakfast is a staggering 22 Euro per person.

Things they don't tell you about on their web site are having to pay for the privelage of using their gym and their poolside lido's and towels. Alo, did you know they charge 2.40 euro's tax each day you stay there- yes Tax to pay as a tourist! Don't touch the mini bar with a bargepole- you can buy the same things from a nearby petrol station at a fraction of the cost i.e. Toblerone 4.50 in hotel, 1.20 at the petrol station

If you head out the back of the hotel their are a few small cafe's and shop where you can get your breakfast at a 1/5th of the price they charge. Might not be as grand but their prices are not worth it.

We won't be staying at this Radical capitalist chain again!

Recently spent a long weekend in Nice at the Radisson. It's very close to the airport and you can actually see the runways from the roof top terrace. Noise pollution is not a problem however. We took a bus from Nice airport, paying Euro4 for a day ticket. The bus takes you to a stop right outside the hotel and can't be beaten for convenience. The trip from the airport takes approxmately 8-10 minutes, and the ticket is valid for the entire day should you wish to pop into the town after checking in.
Check-in is after 3pm at the hotel, but having arrived early from the airport, the front desk staff happily made a room ready for us immediately so we didn't have to wait at all.
We had a city facing room, although I dare say, the coastal facing rooms with balconies look very impressive. The room itself was comfortable, with all the amenities expected of such a hotel. The pillows were surprisingly thin and not comfortable at all. Noise from the street was effectively bufferred out, except for the local church bells which toll loudly on Sundays!
Breakfast was not included in the price and was an additional Euro22 per person. There are 2 conveniently located cafes immediately behind the hotel, in which we had lovely breakfast omelettes and coffee for half the price and I would certainly recommend them rather than eating at the hotel.
The hotel roof terrace is smashing! Beautiful views are guaranteed from up there and the couches adjacent to the bar are classy and very relaxing. We spent one afternoon by the pool but you have to pay Euro12 for the pleasure of half a day's suntanning on the loungers, even as a hotel guest, which I found absolutely ridiculous.
We also ate dinner one night at the roof terrace restaurant. The ambience is lovely, the food overpriced and nothing to shout about. There's much more to be had by going into town for grub.
Transport to town is easy with the shuttle bus from the hotel leaving hourly, bringing you straight into the middle of Nice itself. The last shuttle back is at 1730 though so you'll have to make your own way back when out for the night. Public buses stop running quite early but drop you right behind the hotel itself at St Helene stop. You can get bus numbers 9 and 10 from Place Grimaldi in town. Walking is an option is you fancy a romantic stroll along the promendae, which takes approximately 30-40 minutes from town. Avoid taxis at all cost. We paid Euro20 from town!

The Radisson is actually a very nice hotel, but as others have mentioned, it is FAR from downtown. The hotel does have a shuttle to downtown, but it only runs from 9 - 5:30PM. Not sure if city buses run after, but thought I read somewhere here that they stop at 6?? Anyway, it's a good hike from downtown back. I walk fast and it took me over 30 minutes. Needed the exercise, but I have no plans to walk back and forth. Haven't tried taxis, but heard they are expensive as is parking if you get a car. Park on the street if you can find a spot an it's free. Park at the hotel 23E per night. Ouch. Just try to find a free spot downtown as well. :)

Oh well, overall I've stayed in much worse places. I did not have a sea view room as I was on a corporate rate and couldn't justify the extra 35E per night for the upgrade.
