We stayed in Hotel Clair for a week this September! It was excellent, well situated for access to The Port and a short walk to the Old Town and Promenade de Anglaise.

We chose to stay in a self catering room which was clean and had all the basic's needed to cook a simple meal,i.e, two electric rings, microwave, kettle etc. The Garden is beautifull and a peaceful place to sit whilst eating or just relax and read.

The Hotel is an ideal base for anyone who may be on a budget but wishes to experience Nice or any of it's beautifaul neighbouring towns. The Owners are very helpful and available daily for any advise.

I would definately return to Hotel Clair next time I go to Nice!

Can highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in Nice, I recently stayed there for a week and thought it was great. Excellent location, just five minutes walk to the port area. The owners are a lovely couple who were there every day to answer any questions. Room was clean and comfortable and the courtyard area was perfect for eating outside or just relaxing. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Nice I won't hesitate to stay there again.

Having spent a further week here May 2007 has not only consolidated my opinions but exceeded my expectations.
The rooms, the location, and the friendly and helpful owners make this place a true pleasure to stay at.

Just returned from a great holiday in Nice. Myself and my wife stayed at the Clair Hotel for five nights. It is perfectly located about five minutes from the port and a ten minute walk from the Playa De Anglais Promenade.

The Hotel is spotless and the owners speak both French and English and are extremely accomodating and welcoming.The Hotel caters for all ages from people with young children to people in their eighties.

It is possible to have a few beers or a few glasses of wine during the night in the courtyard which the rooms back out into and one can sample breakfast here in the morning as well. The local supermarket is about a three minute walk away and it stocks everything you will need to make the most of your holiday.

I would recommend visiting Menton located some distance past Monaco which can be visited by taking the coach from the port. The public transport system in Nice is fabulous and very reasonable. The fare to Menton from Nice is one euro thirty cent and the fare from Menton to Monaco is also only one euro and thirty cent. One can travel from Monaco back to Nice for only one euro thirty cent as well.

I would suggest travelling from Nice to Menton and then returning to Monaco where you can visit the principality Palace. The views here are second to none, it is a lovely place.

I would recommend taking the little train for a tour of Monaco , it is very cheap and the sights are amazing. The same type of train is also located at the Playa de Anglais promenade and i would also recommend taking this to tour the old town , and the Castle Hill areas of Nice.

A must to visit is The Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild at st-jean-cap-ferrat. You can reach this fantastic house and gardens by taking the coach that goes to Menton / Monaco from the port at Nice.Get off at Beaulieu, ( this stop is before Monaco ) and walk 15 minutes to the most wonderful site you are ever likely to see.

In Nice itself you can visit a garden which is open to the public. The flowers here are amazing and the views of Nice are spectacular. It is on the open bus tour route and it is definitely worth a visit.There is so much to visit in Nice and outside Nice you will never be bored for a minute. It is one of the most fantastic places to visit.

Before I finish I will recommend a restaurant at the port. We ate there 4 out of the five nights. It is called La Barque Bleue and it is well worth a visit.
